Hi Ladies, glad to be part of this group. Truely a blessing that we will get to see our guys and gals graduate before Thanksgiving and get to spend the day with them. Best Thanksgiving ever to see my son. My recruiter said my son is Ship 13 DIV 015...anyone else? Also, does anyone have advice on mailing letters should I wait til I get his official letter or go based off of what the recruiter has tole me...I will take any advice from someone who knows the ropes.
kvece: The form letter can take up to 2 or 3 weeks to arrive. They can only send out one. If it doesn't arrive by then, is there someone else your SR could have mailed it to? If so, check with that person and see if you can get a copy. There is an important password in there to obtain the gate pass for PIR when it is closer to time.
Good Morning All!
Another "vet" mom here.
My son has stayed in GL for A School (ET). Et's currently are in school at night, so I am a late nighter on here, my texts start coming at 12:30 am from him. My father was a Naval officer way back when, and boy did he have stories, many to laugh at, many to say HUH?
If you have questions about your SR staying in GL for school I will try and answer them for you. If I don't know I will certainly point you in the direction to get them answered.
You are in for a rollarcoaster of a ride, but it will end up being shorter than it feels right now.
Victoria'sMom: I agree with what Betsy wrote about Southwest Airlines. I had to change my flights when my sailor was there and was very sorry I had not booked on Southwest. Not paying a change fee would have saved me alot of money on two tickets! Car rental is cheaper in Milwaukee, we hear, and the traffic is much less than Chicago traffic.
BMLMOM: There are actually 3 MeetandGreets. Later, FTLW will be posting info on them. There is one by a retired military man they call SARGE. His will be the most informative so is the most widely attended. He also runs a transportation service from the airports and around town for those who need it. He is a blessing to the Navy personnel/families up there!
schoenbeck: Div 012 is in this group, not Div 021. That will be in the next PIR group.
Ladies, I am another of the N4Moms veterans on the PIR sites to help out. Welcome to a wonderful emotionally up and down bootcamp journey! Please ask any questions you have on here. We would be happy to answer. FTLW will be adding info, a little at a time, for your info. But feel free to ask questions as you think of them.
Welcome!
Hi i received a form letter from my son. He is ship-13 Div-012 any one else out there in the same group? I have been seeing alot of div-021 and was woundering if the numbers are wrong??
Victoria's mom, I would look into Southwest Airlines, and I am certain that they do fly out of Dallas. You could, if necessary, change your flight without any penalties and they also allow you 2 free checked bags. Sometimes they can be a little less expensive. We also do suggest that when you book your flight, that you try to stay until Sunday, if that is possible. There is no way of knowing right now if your SR will be leaving for A school early Saturday morning or late Saturday. This way you would no problem making your own flight home, if you do decide to wait at the airport with your sailor until they leave. Southwest flies into Milwaukee, WI, which is about a 45 minute drive straight down the interstate to Great Lakes and also to Midway in Chicago. The do not fly to O'hare, however.
