OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Welcome ladies!, I'm Betsy and another "veteran" mom on here helping out.  My youngest son graduated from boot camp in Dec. of 2010 and is currently a CTT on the USS John C. Stennis.  His ship is based out of Washington state but is currently deployed.  My brother was also in the Navy and my middle daughter's  fiance is recently a Navy veteran, as he finished his 6 years as an ET in August.

Please fire away with any questions or concerns you might have.  If we don't know the answer, we will do our best to find out where to get it.  Welcome to the Navy life, it can be a crazy journey, but you will find a lot of comfort sharing it with this group.

Hello!

Welcome to your PIR Group!

My Sailor PIR’d in 05/2011. He is a Seabee Reservist. I have been an AF (Security Forces) Reservist wife for 28 + years…I know …not Navy…but I am familiar with military life! We have been through two Deployments…one right after 9/11 and most recently a year ago…our son enlisted while Hubby was in Iraq. This site was a Godsend and helped me get through not only our sons BC experience but my husbands and my separation for 6 months.

I am a “veteran” mom on the PIR groups mostly. I have been on them now for over a year and we have 7-8 PIR groups running at the same time.

I will check in here to see if I can answer any questions and lend support. There will be a few other veteran moms along to lend a hand and support you all through your PIR experience. Others drop in occasionally too…plus we are always looking for more to “join the ranks”. Things change in the military and we like to give out the most current info that we can so moms that have just gone through this help a lot.

I have a lot of PAGES with information to provide you along the way. I will post as the subjects come up! Please ask any and all questions…there are NO dumb ones Folks!

Hang on for the ride!

Even though I did not get my letter yet I am presuming I am here cos my son left 9/24.
I am actually hoping it will be after thanksgiving though as I could get more time off work so maybe able to drive from Atlanta to save on airfare

Ctownmom: hang in there... I think we are all on the same boat. I sent my son a letter as soon as the recruiter gave me the address and i dont even know if its complete.

My son left on the 25th. I do not have his official letter yet but his recruiter told me he is in div 21. I wonder if he got the numbers reversed and he will be graduating with this group.. Sad thing is I have already sent two letters to him at Ship 13, Div 21. Guess I should see if I get his official letter before sending out any more...sniff sniff
