deboraho & bayoukat110, I'll be praying that they both pass their next time.
deboraho , have you asked that on the FIT group? Maybe someone would know on there.
Ladies, for those of your who are not able to be there for Thanksgiving, please believe me, your loved ones will be very well taken care of. There are churches and other community groups in the area of Great Lakes that will adopt your SR's. They will be given a wonderful meal (most likely off RTC) by some awesome volunteers who have given up their family dinner to make sure that our SR's have a great day. In the past, a lot of the volunteers also make sure that they have their cell phones readily available for those SR's who do want to make that all important phone call home. If you don't want to wait until Saturday to see their faces, you could even ask them to text you a picture of them at the dinner. (I did this, as my son graduated 12/17/10.) They will be in their peanut butter uniform and they are very handsome in those. I still have that beautiful picture of my son on my phone and will always cherish those Thanksgiving Day memories.
Mikesnavymom - We would be honered to have him join us. Yes I will be at Sarge's meet and greet, The funny part about this is that dillonsmon and I already have our plans for Thanksgiving just by getting to know each other through this site.. Looking forward to meeting you too and everyone else.
I just want to thank all of for your support, all your stories, and for sharing a few badly needed laughs. Truly you have all been a blessing. My SR left on 09/25 and we never received a single letter from him so all of your posts have taken place of that so thank you and hugs to all.
Please be safe in traveling this week and enjoy every second of the short time you will have with your sailors. Your sailors have grown strong from this experience and so have all of you.
For all those not going to PIR, there will be no sailors alone for Thanksgiving. The sailors who do not have family coming (and there will be a lot) will still have liberty and there will be a Thanksgiving dinner for them. Just remember that this is going to be a new way of life for them and these past 8 weeks have prepared them for it. PIR is going to be such an uplifting experience for them that I don’t think there will be a single regret.
I am so grateful for every one of your sailor’s decision to defend our country; it takes a special kind of person to make this decision. Remember you all are just as special to have raised these kids and let them go. Thank you.
Is there somewhere I can wait whle my daughter moves from RTC to A school in GL?
DebnChris and Dillonsmom I am in tears right now. Could not sleep very well last night thinking about how my son was going to spend his Thanksgiving without us. Then I got up and went on this site and there were the two comments from you two and I couldn't hold back the tears! Thank you both so much for your generous offer to not let my son have Thanksgiving alone or in the barracks. He is my youngest and I know I might sound over protective, but this is really his first time away from home without either one of us ( mom or dad) being with him and I was just so nervous. I'm still crying (tears of joy) at the kindness shown here to me and my son. Please know that he too would be honored I'm sure!! I will be at Sarge's on Tuesday and I hope you will be there too so that I can thank you both properly. Saying Thanks, is just not enough. Thank you again!!
Annette
