For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME to PIR 11/21/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I had a date for jenniferb that I messaged to her. Thanks, collins....!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on November 8, 2012 at 11:39pm: deboraho, if the call will come to your home phone then see if you can have it forwarded to your cell and prayer you have a signal all afternoon. Also leave a message on your home phone to call your cell if you can't forward it and leave a message on your cell for him in case you don't have a signal letting him know you traveling. Hopefully he will try again if he doesn't reach you.

Comment by diannep on November 8, 2012 at 2:55pm: I'm a Sailor calls usually don't come in until the afternoon...usually after 2 pm GL time. For those who may be flying when they come, with phones off, change your cell voicemail to greet your new sailors and ask that they call back and leave many messages if they want.

Comment by diannep on November 8, 2012 at 2:54pm: Our suggestion for what to bring to PIR for your sailor is to bring lots of "stuff" and let them see what they want to take. They can have cells, laptops, ipods, etc...civilian clothes cannot be worn in A School yet (must phase up). But some take a few pieces of clothing and put them away until then.

Your sailors will know what they can/cannot have....so they may tell you what to bring. If not, just bring what you think they may like and take it back home if they don't want it. Remember, none of these items can be exchanged on RTC. Only at the airport or after moving over to GL A School base.
