kvece: We have been told that those flying out to A School will fly out on Friday. I'm assuming that your future sailor will not be staying in GL for A School? Because those sailors get weekend daytime liberty, most likely. Remember, you can visit with your departing sailor at the airport. Many have to wait for a while to catch their flights. So you can meet them out there, get a gate pass from the airlines (have ID), and wait at the gate until your sailor leaves.
Thoughts and prayers for your SR for a fast healing. A big thanks for his willingness to serve and that he should be very proud.
pinkladybug> So very sorry. Blessings to him in the discharge process and in his future. Thank him for being willing to serve his country! Hoping that his medical issues are not severe and he is ok....
Pinkladybug, :( I'm so sorry to hear that about your son. Please thank him for willingness to serve and tell him that he should be very proud of himself. Has he been sent to Ship 5? If so, you should join that group. The members of that group are going through the same thing and could really help. I'm sure you will have a lot of questions and that group does have a lot of valuable information. Prayers to you and your son. http://www.navyformoms.com/group/ship17moms
GoNavyShip, I would try and keep a positive attitude, because in the Navy "no news could also be good news" I will pray that he is ok and just busy working hard.
Unfortunately, shin splints and stress fractures can happen. :( The running can be very hard on some of the SR's legs and ankles. That said, please remember that they do take very good care of them. If that does happen, though, I lot of the SR's are still able to continue on with their training after they have healed.
Pink, I am so sorry to hear that. I fear the same fate for my son too. The last letter I got from him was over 2 weeks ago. He was complaining of terrible pain in his left shin and ankle. Have not heard from him since. No calls since he got there either on Sept. 24. I have read that several SR's are suffering from stress fractures. I pray whatever your SR's medical condition is he heals quickly from it. I will keep you in my prayers. He was so brave for trying, I am sorry it didn't work out for him.
HAPPY ELECTION DAY EVERYONE!!!
Nicole'sMom: Ramada runs their own shuttle...I don't believe they use the PIR shuttle service that morning (taxis that operate as shuttles for PIR). And, yes, theirs leaves later. But you should still be at PIR in plenty of time---many will be there before then, but you should still have a good choice in seating. The shuttles bypass the car lines...so they should be able to drop you off right at the gate...you should be there at about 7:10 You may want to ask the Ramada if you need to reserve your space with them on that 7 a.m. shuttle...they will make several trips to get all there who want to take the shuttle.
