Good morning everyone, Kellyd, Hell week is really just a super busy week. They have lots of inspections, have to get up earlier, tests etc. They will be fine and this is when they can really begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel :-)
Good Morning ladies!
How's it going?
What is Hell Week? And do I really want to know what it is?
Good Morning Ladies.
If anyone is planning to donate blood in the near future, please consider donating in "honor of Brett Parks." Hopefully your blood bank will allow this. The blood will not go to him, but it is possible that your blood bank/mobile will send a card to Brett saying you donated in his honor. Ask if you can make a "designated donation in honor of Brett Parks who is in ICU at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville FL." I know that Brett will so appreciate hearing from so many who are praying for him.
For those who may not know who Brett is: He is one of our sailors, stationed in Jacksonville FL. Family members are lifelong friends with my family. He influenced my son to go into the Navy (he went in a year earlier). He is 33, married, 16 mo old son, wife 8 mos pregnant with daughter. Is a personal trainer on the side. Finished a training session at 7 pm on Oct 17th...heard a man in the parking lot yell for help (mugger had just attacked), Brett jumped into action and was shot in the stomach. Pierced aorta (almost bled to death before arriving at hospital...70 units of blood needed), he had most of his colon removed, one kidney (on dialysis for the time being), and just Monday, the bottom part of his right leg was removed (to save his life...from infection). He is a fighter and continues to amaze his doctors--he should not be alive, they say. Prayers are bountiful for Brett and his family, and they are feeling them. He is a fighter...and will get through this...but it is a slow painful process. When he can be "upgraded" to a less traumatic ICU room, that will be a victory. He is off the ventilator and has a trach tube now. He is no longer restrained (would get agitated and try to pull out tubes, etc). His abdomen is still open because of swelling but hopefully will be closed today. I have told his mom that his "Navy family" is in prayer for him.
Here is the caringbridge link to follow his progress:

Thanks so much ladies!
Ok, onto other business....don't forget to message me BattleStations dates if you hear them from your SRs. We can't post them on this page but can private message them. RTC asked us to treat the dates as "ship movement" and follow OPSEC standards, which means no public discussion of ship movement before the fact. This would include no posting on FB either...again, private message is ok. I will try and keep a schedule of these dates.
diannep, thank you, just wondering and curious. I am praying for all the boys that it goes well. Have not heard from my SR lately so just a little worried. But I am staying with no news is good news. Thanks again for letting me know...Hope all is well with you.
Prayers for all affected by the storm...for cleanup to start right away, rebuilding, power restored. Special prayers for those who lost friends/family members in the storm. God Bless the rescuers, and especially the hospital personnel in NY who had to evacuate babies and elderly people during the storm when the backup generators failed. They are true heroes!
pinkpuddles. They should be in Hell Week now. It is not as bad as the name sounds...up earlier, lots of inspections, very busy.
Good evening ladies. Have not heard from my SR for sometime now. Hope all is well. Just wanted to say thoughts and prayers go out to everyone out east, and to Brett and his family.
Can anyone tell me what the SR are doing this week and when hell week starts for them? Were down to the last three weeks and I am just wondering what is happening next. Lots of love and prayers for Brett and his family and for all of those suffering from the storm.
Continued prayers for Brett, I am sure he will continue to make everyone, even those of us who don't know him, very very proud. A true hero for sure.
Lots and lots of prayers also for all those affected by this terrible storm. So many lives lost, home and businesses that need to be rebuilt and so much clean up. All of them will need our help so please remember to give when you see collection boxes in your areas. We will for sure be getting stuff ready to send.
collinsnavygirlsmom: He is quite a hero....the battle for his life he is fighting now just because he "stepped in" to help a victim (mugging) in need. One bullet is all it took to change his life....forever....but he is "sailor strong" too! He is such an honorable young man (33). He has always made me laugh (both he and my sailor son are actor personalities...both always creating smiles around them). I can't wait to see his smile again....and for him to make us laugh again!
