That is awesome collins... I know you are super proud of her as you should be :-) It would be so exciting to be a pilot:-) Maybe someday her path will cross with my AO :-)
GoNavy and Thanks so much...will be checking with them all today!!
Lala: She was in aviation in college and flying/working on getting her pilots license when she left for BC...she enlisted as an E-3 and eventually wants to be a pilot for the navy (she is an adrenaline junky!!lol) but also wants to learn the mechanical side of things. I am a veteran army wife but just getting acclimated to the Navy so I am so ever grateful for this site and all of you :)
collins... they do sometimes change rates during bootcamp so that could happen i think even though she is undesignated. If she stays undesignated Airman A-school will not be very long at all. They usually have a very short A-school and then go out to the fleet to begin working and figuring out what rate they like. It would be cool to get rescue swimmer, that is what my son wants to be. He is now "finally" putting forth the effort to get some weight off before he goes to talk to the recruiter again :-)
We reserved at Navy Lodge...(847)689-1485. Check with them, they may allow pets. Also, try Springhill Suites by Mariott. I understand, I don't count on anything either...lol. Iowa?!! You will enjoy visiting her in Florida during the winter then...WARM WEATHER! I wish her luck on her swim test, I'm sure she will do great. Your right, it could make a difference on her A school plans.
It sounds like it could be Saturday...I'm not getting my hopes up as we have been misinformed several times about PIR.lol Not complaining because the dates have been sooner everytime!! We are only a few hours away from Great Lakes... in Iowa. I am hoping that we find out before the 19th. Yay for your son's job...I am an RN and love, love, love people that go into healthcare. My daughter has worked in healthcare for over 3 years and decided it wasn't for her...made me said but I think everyone should be doing something that they love. They also are having her test out for rescue diving, 1st class swim test (?) while she is at Great Lakes, since she was a lifeguard as well. So, I am assuming that can change the A school plans. Have you made hotel reservations for Great Lakes? She just requested her 4 legged boy to come on the trip...I'm gonna have to see if I can find someplace that will let us have him now.
My son's A school is around 14 weeks, not sure if the other schools are that time frame or not. Depends on what they are training for I guess.
The weather is nice in Florida during winter. My son is going to A school in San Antonio for Hospital Corpsman. I am so excited about that because it is only 4 1/2 hours from where we live! Hoping to visit him here and there while he is there. I assumed that mine would fly out on the Friday after PIR, so you are saying that he might possibly leave later than that? I am willing to change my return flight once again if it means more time with him : )
For Thanksgiving, she said it could be up to four days before her flight leaves :) I am clueless about A school and when she will be done. She enlisted as an Undesignated Airman, all I know is that she will be in Pensacola but no idea on when she will be done there or get any leave...we are looking forward to heading south to see her this winter :) Could I ask what is your son's job/A school?
Yes, he's been writing, but has not said anything about the calls. His last letter, that we got yesterday said he would get leave for Christmas. Is that the holiday you are refering to or did you mean Thanksgiving? He didn't mention about the Division receiving an academic award...that's great news!
