For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME to PIR 11/21/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My entire family has sent him cards....I think I read somewhere that is the worst thing that can happen to an SR. I dont want to make it any harder on him, but its too late they have already mailed them out. Anyone?

Comment by pinkpuddles on October 22, 2012 at 2:25pm: DIANNEP, thank you so much for the encouraging words. You have no idea how my heart sunk after I heard from my son on Friday night. It is breaking my heart to know that they are not a team yet and they are more than half way through. My prayers are with all the boys that they will pull it together. He will survive this and so will I, he will be a better man for having survived this, but in the moment it is hard to think that your child is struggling along with 80 others. But sometimes in dispare comes the best things. I am hoping for the best for all of them!

Comment by diannep on October 22, 2012 at 1:19pm: pinkpuddles: So many divisions don't pull together in the beginning...yes, there can be consequences like lost phone calls, but they can earn them as well. They finally get it together.

The reason he hung up so quickly is because: When the RDC says hang up, you hang up on the spot! Once when talking to my son, I heard the RDC yell in the background to the SRs...my son said, gotta go, bye! CLICK! They know to comply with that order pronto!

It does get better...so hang in there. Can't promise you that you will get lots of phones calls...every RDC is different on that....but it will be getting better for your SRs as bootcamp goes along.

This is the link to the TV interview with Brett's brother/father this past Friday. Brett is a miracle but is still very critical (5 days after the incident)...new challenges each day. Still sedated...but the Lord is present with him and family! Small miracles each day. Thanks so much for praying, ladies.
