For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME to PIR 11/21/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Unfortunately things didnt work out that way but thank you! Since I was unable to meet with my SR on Thanksgiving Day, I donated to the Salavation Army here in his home town in his honor. They needed pies for there Thanksgiving Dinner. So what I would have spent eating out on Thursday, I bought for the homeless here. Safe travels to each and everyone of you.

We are at Navy Lodge and plan on driving in the morning. What gate/road do I go?? Thanks so much for everything!

For those who didn't hear from your SRs/sailors today after BattleStations, go to PIR on the theory that NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS! And....enjoy!

Julia: The shuttle takes the stress out of arriving there for sure!

Comment by Julia on November 20, 2012 at 6:37pm: I drove up to the Naval Base and it's huge! There was a line waiting to get in and that was just day to day traffic! I planned to drive in the morning but I signed up for the shuttle from the hotel instead. I don't need that stress!
