Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME to PIR 11/21/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on October 17, 2012 at 8:34am: Good Morning Everyone! I will be back on later tonight. Yesterday I was running my mom around all day to doctor's visits. Today we are doing some Christmas (yes, I did say Christmas, lol) shopping all day. My mother always has her shopping finished by the end of Oct. She puts me to shame every year. I am very happy that, at least right now, she is healthy enough to enjoy these things. She does have some major health problems, so we are fortunate to be able to do these things. Have a great day and "see you later".

The mail is held from them for the first two weeks until the Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained. Hopefully, those letters are there now. Good Morning!

Comment by mawhinney3 on October 17, 2012 at 7:59am: Ctownmom- My SR is in Div 11 with your son. I have not been able to tell of he has received the letter yet from home. He did say in the letter last week that the div is coming a family now and that makes it easier. I have received 2 personal letters from him and both of them last week.! Plus the little note on the back of the 2nd form letter. I'm hoping this week will be a lot better and the letters more encouraging.

I hope you recieve a letter today! I run home everyday after work hoping for more letters!

Comment by Ctownmom (Ship 13, Div 011) on October 17, 2012 at 6:25am: I received the second (corrected date) form letter yesterday from my SR. The disheartening part is the note he left on the back was asking for mental encouragement. I have sent him 5 letters, my husband, his GF, and his GF's mom have all sent letters and notes as well. I sure hope he gets them soon. Any others in Div 011 that know that their SR's have received mail?

Just when I think I have a handle on my emotions they start all over again. November 21st, please get here soon.....
