Lots of info here on the PAGES section:
Its not about the birthday persay, CryptoDad....it about piks posted on this site of the birthday boy. We all know that RDCs sometimes are on this site as well as the FB groups (no matter how "closed" those groups are! We know for a fact they have been there in the past). So it is just best to fly under the radar when posting alot of personal info, including piks, here.
We always recommend that families mail birthday cards (white envelopes please....just in case some RDCs like to tease about colored ones)....if they like. If your SR has asked you NOT to send a card, please do not. You can celebrate after PIR!
RDCs have access to Recruit birthdates if they want to make life (more) miserable.
The bigger question is one of personal security (PERSEC) for your Recruit and yourself.
You are very welcome, kim!
Kimber: I have to agree with CatMom. Probably better to save the piks of your birthday boy for private messages on here between friends
Sarah: It is always more economical to rent a car if possible. CatMom has a code for Enterprise that she posts if you are interested in using that. I believe it doesn't expire until Dec.
Eventually, we have heard that some sailors may fly from Milwaukee since they now have a USO. But so far, we haven't heard of sailors flying out of that airport.
Good Morning!
Sarah,
Consider this:
If you want to see your Sailor off to nuke school in SC on the Saturday following PIR, you are going to have to get to one of the Chicago airports, O'Hare or Midway. Then you have to get to Milwaukee for your own flight home.
Could it be done with shuttles or a shared rental car? Shuttles, perhaps, but at what cost? Shared rental logistics could be tricky if Sailors are flying out of different airports. You probably won't know the details of your Sailor's travel plans until PIR. Like I said, something to consider.
Good morning everyone!!! Don't forget RTC's Wacky Wednesday post on FB today. It's a chance to win a picture of your SR. 44 more days. We're getting closer all the time.
One quick question- How do you get a member's name to show blue as a link when you respond to their post? I can't figure it out for the life of me!
Have a great day!
Kim,
My family and I are also staying at Residence . Looking forward to meeting everyone at Sarge's !
KimberPRmom,
That's a toughie. I know you are proud and happy it's his birthday today, but he also wants to fly under the radar as far as his RDCs knowing about his birthday because their gift is maybe PT! The RDCs sometimes come on these PIR groups looking for info that moms' share on their SRs and we don't know when they do it. It is up to you, though~~
Happy Birthday to your SR!!
