Sarah,
Milwaukee would be my first choice, if you can make reasonable connections.
Avoid Midway,
my son is on ship 03 div 014 I am going to start booking flight now and taking advice to book southwest
Can anyone tell me the best airport to fly in to?
jrk'smom,
Your SR is blessed to be in a new pilot division that is allowed to wear athletic shoes until the swim test?? No boots for them?? Cool!!
Other than that, sounds like he is having a normal Boot Camp experience~~ Mom knowing so much was probably amazing to him! :)
Hi kim,
Glad you made it over here!
All the hotels that diannep mentioned are located in the Waukegan/Gurnee area about 10 min away from Recruit Training Command (RTC). Holiday Inn Express also had a hot serve yourself breakfast. Navy Lodge provides some sort of breakfast also. Not sure about the other hotels. Call the hotels direct to book and ask for the Navy Graduation rate~~
Hello All!
"The Lord is near to all who call on Him,
to all who call on Him in truth."
Psalm 145:18
Your very welcome. 7 more Fridays !!!!!!
Shelly is right, Melissa! You with sailors staying in GL for A School have it GOOD! Usually they are done with moving over to A School base around 2 or 3 pm on Fri so you can get them then, and you get to pick them up early Sat. and Sun. mornings. So lots of time to do lots of things! Taking the train to Chicago may be on your list of things to do....the train station is right there by RTC and A School. Sunday night for your flight would be better, but Monday morning would be even better if you can do it....because I know sometimes in the past, some have reported that their return time was a little later than 8:30. You don't want to miss any time with your new sailor if you don't have to! :-)
Were staying at Residence Inn Waukegan/Gurnee. The two bedroom suites have full kitchen's, just for my sailor's favorite meals.
