OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

FaylinaMeir omg that is EXACTLY what happened to me. So weird haha. They said they lost copies of my SSC and my birth certificate and our marriage license. Then 2 weeks later they ask for better copies of my ID. I am wondering where that copy of my SSC went. Hopefully no one steals my identity. Lol

Received a letter today! He he...my SR is the Head PO (bathroom manager) Someone is finally getting him to clean the toilet! His knee issue has also been resolved so he's full steam ahead! Yea!

FaylinaMeir , They lost all of our marriage info twice too! My husband told me I should be receiving my info for DEERS next week. I was very annoyed it took so long but I am glad it finally got taken care of.

Good Morning Everyone-

I believe this link has been posted on here previously. However, for those of you who haven't seen this video produced by CNN about Battlestation 21 you may want to check it out. It's a little snip-it to show you what our SR's will be going through in a couple of weeks...
