N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thank you diannep for the info on the meet and greet.  If our son does not attend with us, why would I want to go when I can be with him? We will only be there for 2 days so I hope I will be allowed to take my son to dinner that night.  If not, then I would definitely want to go meet the other families!  I really hope to take my son to dinner since I can't be with him on Thanksgiving! I also didn't realize we would not receive more information/letters from them other than the form letter with PIR date.  Wow, sure do miss him!

Brenda:  Here is a link that has some Thanksgiving dinner info:

http://www.opentable.com/promo.aspx?pid=1&m=3

JW:  You will like Residence----we stayed there.  They have a full kitchen which is nice.  Horrible that the online rate was cheaper than the Navy Grad rate~   I wonder if that is true all of the time or only because it is a holiday weekend.  Thanks for the info!

We booked at Marriott Residence Inn. We needed two rooms and they have a kitchen. FYI It's cheaper to book online then to call ... they charged more for the Grad rate then the rate online!

Anybody in the area know where we can have Thanksgiving dinner?

BethM:  No, no more info will come from RTC to you other than if your SR is elected as an Honor Graduate, etc in which case you will receive a letter shortly before PIR.

Sarge'sMeetandGreet is what you are referring to.  There will be no sailors there, just the families.  I will post the link in a moment so you can see the info.  Sarge/wife do this each week for the PIR groups and supply a nice dinner.  Free to you all, but he will accept donations if anyone chooses to give when there.  Not a requirement by any means.  He also has a taxi/shuttle service for those needing transportation, competitive with the area taxi/shuttle service. In fact, they are the same price.

Comment by diannep on October 12, 2015 at 12:27pm

WhooPig:  Yes, and it is their own shuttle....I believe it is $2/pp each way, where as the local shuttles and Sarge's are $3/pp I believe.

No, NavyDad.  This is not counted as a training day, although they do have things to do today.  Everyone will be setback a training day after today.  All of that is factored into the PIR date so no worries.

Most divisions will be in training week 1 this week.  Some started into training week 1 last week.  All divisions are within a few days of each other.  The training days go to 6-5 (training week 6/day 5).  Then they do BattleStations on 6-5.  Some will be doing BattleStations at the beginning of PIR week, and some will be doing them towards the end of the week before.  The best way to follow your SR's division is to ask when your SR calls what training week/day they are on then and put it on your calendar.  Just remember that Sat, Sun and holidays do not count.

Joan - We booked the Navy Lodge as soon as we got the Form Letter on Saturday.  I like that they have a shuttle that runs from the hotel to PIR!

Does anyone know if this is a regular day at Bootcamp because it's Columbus Day (national holiday)? Or is it more like a Saturday or Sunday schedule. Plus, does any of our veteran BOOTCAMP MOMS know what day this graduating class is actually on...Week 2 day 1 or some other day. Little confusing when I read up on how it doesn't Necessarly jive with the days of the week.
