Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

20 min phone call today and my son thinks he can call every Sunday afternoon. He is doing good but kinda sore in his hands from throwing around the rifle at drill practice. He also mentioned it was really strict and they stay busy. Said, everyone has to ask permission for everything and you could get in trouble for asking permission for something the instructors think you shouldn't be asking for in the first place. (But not serious trouble, just barked at) Also, said the food was good. I'm praying for my son and all the recruits as they enter into their next week at BOOTCAMP.

VirgoMom:  Be sure to watch Livestream that morning....starts 8:45 a.m. Central time!  Hope you will see your new sailor then!

VirgoMom904,

Maybe only a couple of you can attend the PIR?  You and your hubby?  (Have your other kids stay with family and friends.) You and one of your other children?  Buy the PIR dvd for $29.00 so the other members of your family can view it when it arrives.  Airfare from Southern California on Delta was $365 or so roundtrip in 2013 for me.

PIR is probably the best event in a Sailor's life!  There will be other small graduations or award ceremonies during a Navy career, but nothing on the scale of PIR.  You can check out a Livestream this Friday for the current group graduating on 10/16/2015 to see what I mean.  The link is up on Pages on the upper right of this page.  PIR is from 8:45 am - 10:30 am Great Lakes time.
