bananabear:  Sarge may be able to provide you shuttle service to his MeetandGreet.  Here's his number  847 212 0246 or email him at:  johnspadaro@att.net.  If you would consider staying at Springhill Suites, it is only 1/10 of a mile to Sundance Saloon where the MeetandGreet is so you could probably walk it!  You could ask Sarge about that.  That is a nice hotel,  good reviews on it on here....call it directly to book it and ask for the Navy Grad discount.

ArizonaMom:  Residence Inn, where we stayed, had FULL kitchens.  Nice suites.  There is a big WalMart very close where you could buy your ingredients.  This is the Residence Inn in Waukegan/Gurnee area.  Be sure to ask them for their Navy Graduation discount (call them directly).

My son asked if I would bring him one of my home cooked meals. :). He said cook it and just bring it, I'm flying so that's not even possible. Does anyone know of a hotel that has a mini kitchen? I think he just misses me more than my home cooked meals. :) any suggestions?

Anyone book their hotel yet?  I'm thinking about staying close to the Meet and Greet area - Holiday Inn Express or Candlewood Suites so we don't have to drive too far at night.  Does anyone know if they have a shuttle to/from the Navy Lodge to the Meet and Greet?

Should I book everything now? He's letting me use his credit card but I'm unsure if I should do it now or 1st week of November?

I got a call today too. He sounded happy. He is struggling with folding his clothes a certain way and making his bed. The running etc is no problem. He was very prepared for all of that. He is also worried about the dental for next week. He is worried he will be set back missing days.

We got a call from our SR this morning!  He sounded so homesick, but healthy and doing what he needs to do.  This is his first extended time away from home.  So glad that my husband hadn't left for work yet, so we put the phone on speaker so we could all talk.  He said that he was in charge of mail for his group.  He has not been given permission yet to distribute it.  Does anyone know why that may be?

I got my phone call! He sounded so sad, we both cried. He said he misses us! :(. I gave him lots of reassurance! The only thing I'm worried about is, he has to have his wisdom teeth pulled even though our dentist here said he didn't. I just hope they give him something to relax him or sedate him. He said he didn't know. He has 3 days to recover, he said he was told it won't set him back but he sounded worried about it. My son has never broken a bone or had anything major done, this is very hard for me because I can't be there for him while he's hurting!

Yea- my son called this morning, too! What a nice way to start a Saturday morning! He sounded great! He said yesterday was their first official training day and they got their uniforms and learned to march yesterday and had their first mail call (luckily we have a relative near Chicago who mailed a card this week, so he got something at mail call!). He has made some friends and says they are allowed to lay in bed and talk for awhile after lights out (that surprised me!). What a relief to hear his voice- wishing all you other PIR 11/26 moms a happy day!
