I am curious as to time off from A school my SR is going to Pensacola, and will be there during Christmas was is the chance of him getting to come home.

Does their time in boot camp count toward their earning leave?
Comment by MommaJ on October 16, 2014 at 2:20pm

That wasn't clear...the sailors took leave DURING A school (like I'm hoping she can come home for Christmas/New Year's) but then had no leave days left after A school, before they shipped out to their first assignment.

Ypu might get one today or tomorrow my SR called me last saturday saying he gets to write one tomorrow which is sunday and they didnt mail it til tuesday cuz monday was holiday. Ive been checking everyday too !

You ladies ROCK!!!  I've been adding an extra letter, everyday, too...everyone says that's the highlight of their days!!

Does anyone know about leave?  Specifically how many days of leave they get each year?  Is it like a regular job- the longer you are there, the more "vacay" days you earn?  My husband is on the NavyDads site, and some of them have commented that their new sailors took leave, from A school, but then didn't have time between A school graduation and their first ship date.

When I talked to my SR on Saturday I asked her if she wanted me to cook.  She said "THAT WOULD BE WONDERFUL"  I did tell her that she is able to invite anyone she wanted to that did not have anyone coming up to see them for PIR...  I will reiterate that to her again.  Ship 12 DIV 020

Will do MommaJ, I wrote my son this morning and asked for names of SRs who don't get mail and I'm willing to adopt for PIR and turkey day! It would break my heart too if my kid was alone.

Hi ladies!  Just want to send a HUGE KUDOS for those of you who will be making a home made Thanksgiving dinner for your SR's!!!  I feel like I should turn in my "mom card" for not even thinking of that, let alone making it happen!!  For some of the new moms, I would ask that you consider "adopting" a SR, after PIR, and Thanksgiving Day.  Some of these kids won't have anyone to come see PIR, let alone spend time off base with.  You can talk to your SR, and ask them if anyone will be alone.  Thank you for even considering it!!  It would break my heart if my SR was alone after everything she had been through.

Arizona mom: We'll all be sending prayers his way, and well wishes for quick healing!  They are ALWAYS our babies, no matter how old they are!!

Thank you chowdercall911! I do understand that and you're right, he will be fine. :)

Thank you Nick's mom!
Diannep- I don't understand why they wouldn't wait until A school. We have a very good family dentist and he said he didn't need them out so I know it's not emergent. I have always been on top of taking both of my kids to the dentist every 6 months. I'm sorry to go on, I just feel bad for my son.
