No, even if it is just you, chowdercall, he needed to put your name down.  He probably was getting so much shouted at him, he just assumed he didn't have to.  :-)  No problem....the final lists are the ones that count!  I'm sure he will correct that!

Nancy:  I figured that Thanksgiving Day costs at the nice restaurants would be pretty high.  You may want to contact your hotel and ask if they have a list of restaurants in the area serving Thanksgiving Dinner.

chowdercall:  I would call Navy Lodge and ask them about a place to order a cooked turkey.   I'm sure that someone there would know....it would be a common question since so many come to see their sailors in A School during the holidays.

Your SR needs to add your name to the guest list when he updates shortly before PIR.   Your baby doesn't have to be listed on the guest list.

Those who put Mom, Dad, etc on the original form letter will update those to the proper names before PIR. You will NOT get a copy of this update---it will be with the gate personnel.  It is suggested that you write your SR with the proper names listed on ID you will use for base access so that they can make sure the names are in agreement.  And, yes, they tell them to write this the first time in the form letters (Mom, Dad, etc).....maybe they are in a hurry?  Not sure why!

prayermom:   Welcome!  A rental car is the most economical way to get around.  The shuttles can be costly if you plan to be out and about---but if you are worried about driving in possible snow, Sarge would be the one to contact to transport you around (847 212 0246).  There are car rental "deals" out there....flying into Milwaukee WI (45 min drive to GL) usually saves on car rentals.....Southwest Airlines flies into Milwaukee (Chicago-Midway too, but longer drive, more traffic)....no change fee with that airlines if your sailor is delayed for any reason---2 bags check for free.  Hotels suggested by others on here are:  Navy Lodge (book in SR's name if you don't have military ID), Springhill Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Courtyard, Residence Inn (we liked this one!).  The last 4 hotels here are close to each other---4-5 miles from RTC/GL A School, close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR for you.  Call them directly and ask for the Navy Grad discount.  Don't wait....it is a holiday weekend so the hotels will fill up.

If you would like to eat Thanksgiving Dinner at Lovells of Lake Forest, yes, reservations are suggested, maybe required.  Nice restaurant....they love their sailors!  You may want to look at the site "opentable" for the Chicago area and see what restaurants are serving Thanksgiving Dinner.  You may also want to call your hotel and ask them if they have a list of restaurants in the area serving Thanksgiving dinner.  Many of them may.

prayermom,  Renting a car probably depends on what you plan to do.  If you want the flexibility to venture out whenever and see different areas, a car makes good sense.  Otherwise, most if not all, of the hotels listed in the brochure that comes with the form letter offer complimentary shuttles to and from graduation.  Another transportation option is Sarge.  I  called him last time for a ride to and from the airport.  We also called him to pick us up after graduation to take us back to the hotel.  His number (hopefully is hasn't changed) is:  847-212-0246

2ndTimeAround: Sounds like a plan!  I'm on the go by 5a, but not able to get to a computer until lunch time...I'll see who I can get to check it out!  I would LOVE to see some pics of my girl!!

I asked me son too about his guest list....mom, brother, stepdad..... He said that was just a "suggested" list and would finalize with names later.  My son that graduated 2 years ago spelled everything out on the form letter. But then, he also wrote little notes to me in the margins.  --probably not Regs   ;)

lol MommaJ...no real game plan other than glasses and zoom, zoom, zoom in  :)   I'm not sure when they post the contest pics.  I work M-F s so, I think I'll start checking the site early Wednesday morning.  On RTC facebook page?

Thank you Kay's mom.  I'll post a heads up if I know that they are calling out from that group.
