Mine said mom, dad, sister and girlfriend. Yes, my SR has a girl friend and since he has been gone she and my daughter have gotten real close. My husband works for a major airline. We will be flying standby the Tuesday before PIR. He wants her to come but she would fly at a lower level and we would be taking the risk of her not being able to make the flight. I am thinking about just buying her a ticket. Thoughts.

Hi nhhmmom- My daughter is also in SHIP 02 DIV 903 and I have not heard from her.

lol  Ok if that's what they told them to do I guess it's ok. I thought it was him misunderstanding!

Ha Ha, our letter said "mom" "dad" "sister" and "half-sister"...we wondered about this too.  It must be ok for now!

To those who know--and thank you for helping the rest of us!--On my sons form letter he listed the following as guests to PIR: "mom" "dad" "brother" "sister" Not our names. When he called Sat I asked him if he was supposed to write our names. I said I don't have ID that says "mom". He said that's what they told him to write. Could that be right?? Or did he mess it up?

Hello.  This my very first post since joining NavyforMoms back in March.  Thank you all for posting information - so helpful in working out the logistics of getting a family from NH to PIR!  My SR is in SHIP 02 DIV 903 - did any families hear from that group over the weekend?  I cannot wait to hear his voice again!  Thanks!

First timer from Texas!!! Ok, is this a reasonable summary of all the comments???  Fly in for PIR to 1 of 3 airports, have hotel with or without kitchen (depending of cooking preference), if NOT, are T'giving meal reservations necessary?  And, is a rental car needed?  Never visited this area before!  Any comments appreciated, thanks:)

I plan to just wing it this Turkey day. We will have four of us traveling to see AJ and will eat out wherever we can get a decent meal..maybe a steakhouse or Italian even. Just being there will make my day. I am just determined to not stress over it and I am the number one stress person ever...lol

I only live 7 hour drive away. Got a room at the Residence Inn so I'm bringing a Turkey from home. I told my SR on Saturday she is more than welcome to invite someone who may not, for one reason or another, have family come up.

Does anyone have any recommendations for Thanksgiving? I just called Lovell's but the cost of a turkey dinner on that day is $55 per person. That's a bit high for us.
