~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

diannep,
So sweet your time with Mason and good to hear things are progressing smoothly for your son and daughter in law!! Thanks for the update~~
Thank you, Bethin NY!
I purchased 1 online from Walmart ($2 cheaper online). It's AT&T, 1000 minutes with no using extra minutes to connect in the US for $28 with shipping. Got to our house in 24 hrs. The 1st use is the activation. Must work since he called with it on Sat :)
Ladies, I sent several calling card PIN numbers with my SR when leaving for boot camp; I would like to purchase one with a good amount of minutes on it so I can send the code in my next letter. Does anyone suggest one calling card over another? I just figured I'd pick one up at Walgreens or Walmart. Do *I* need to be the one to activate it, or is that done when the card is swiped initially at point of purchase?
So happy to hear you'll get EXTRA baby time! I am lucky too, in that I get to see my sweet grandbaby all the time :-) I could stare at him for HOURS!
When my son was at bootcamp, those last 4 digits in the zip kept changing on his return address on his letters. Never could figure that out...I just kept with the form letter address...
Glad you ladies caught that! I was just going by what was on the address site.
42 days!!!
Ahhhh....barefoot...thanks for asking. They left the hospital yesterday to stay with her parents for a while. But they came by here....twice...the first time, my dogs barked, I saw their car out front so of course ran out. My son was lifting his little guy from his wife's arms and turned around, placing him in my arms....ahhhh....just heaven. I have to say...and this is hard for me to , a chocolate lover, to say...holding him is better than CHOCOLATE! HA! He has been such a great sleeper, so of course, was sleeping...but such an angelic look. His mommy is such a laidback first-time mommy...so trusting when I have him (even though I hope not to drop him! HA!). They came back later last night so that my older son could meet him (has been working long hours and didn't meet him yet). Funny...my 29 yr old son held him like he was glass! Scared to death to move! He said: I have never held a 2 day old baby before! ...and...he just kept staring at him (of course, sleeping again!).
Sooo....I got a great dose of baby! He is precious...they move in with me temporarily on Saturday...she said my house is more peaceful than hers...sadly, her parents have lost theirs to 4closure, after a long fight to keep it (their first home, and it is beautiful...bad economy and a heart disability for the dad doomed them). All of their furniture has already been moved to PODS...they are sleeping on mattresses on the floor with bare "fixins" in the house---trying to find a rental, waiting for sheriff to lock them out...but her mom wanted them there with her while she recovers from birth...and of course for HER baby time! So...starting Saturday, I have unlimited baby time! Once she starts back to work...they probably will look for another apt...but for now...we will have me, 2 grown sons, one's wife, baby, and 3 dogs here (youngest pup-2 yrs old-belongs to my sailor daddy son-- not understanding what this baby thing is....sigh) Busy, but hopefully a memorable experience!
@diannep - How is that precious grandbaby of yours?!
