N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

ABitofWhimsy, They usually have it up fairly fast. It could be that they have not yet been able to get the division together for a quick group pick at the same time the photographer was available. That division was probably in week 5 so very busy. Keep watching!

TJsMom, If your sailor is staying in GL for A School they can have their e;ectronics on Friday after they have moved over to the TSC side. If your sailor is flying out to A School you can give them their electronics at the airport.

Some schools allow them to use their computers etc. right away, some don't. Those that can't use them right away just have their electronics locked away until they can.

Welcome to the group, Abbyh6. There are quite a few of us staying at the Navy Lodge which is a good deal. I think it is $66 or $71 w/ a kitchen. I'm not sure whether or not they have a shuttle service.

Hi everyone, my boyfriend is in division 903 Ship 02 and he arrived at RTC on 10/01 and is graduating on 11/27. I was wondering if anyone else had made their hotel arrangements for graduation yet? Since I will be traveling by myself, I am trying to figure out where the best place to stay will be that will have a nice room, a shuttle to and from graduation, and also an affordable price. I would really appreciate any recommendations or comments! Also if anyone is from the Buffalo area please let me know because that is also where I am from! Want to see if my future sailor is surrounded by anyone close from home! :)

I was wondering that too. I know they can't have their electronics on base, but I was wondering if we could give it to them at the airport when they fly off to A school.

I was wondering about the parent who asked about getting a laptop or tablet. Will they be allowed to have that kind of thing on base after PIR?

I have been downloading a small pic and putting it up in the top corner of the letters I send. Some are from the day he left, others are from things that have happened since. Like yesterday was his Gpas Birthday (82) so there is one from that. I figured it saves on room and it looks like we are right there with him since we are on the page. lol

My printer uses up so much ink when printing pictures on paper (I have a terrible printer) and the cost to replace ink cartridges is crazy so for the 19 cents per 4x6 picture that Walmart's 1 hour photo charges me, I find it a good deal. Not the best quality, but hopefully just a pick me up for my SR. I sent 5 last week and plan to send 5 again this week.

I have a quick question: Over on the US Navy Recruit Training Command FB page they do a trivia contest every Tuesday and the winner is suppose to message them with their SR's division number to get a picture of that division in bootcamp. Granted I didn't win the contest, but I was looking forward to seeing it and hoping for the random pics to go up to (as I see it's been a few weeks since they've done that), but no picture has gone up and tomorrow is Tuesday again. Are they just sending the winner the picture privately? Does anyone know how that works? Thanks in advance.

barefoot's idea is a great one because of their lack of storage space.  Remember you can print collage style on the back of letters too!  :-)

Good Morning, Friends!!

were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare."
