~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good morning! 11 degrees here! Brrrrr!! Great Lakes may be warmer!
Morning all. A light snow and 11o here... bring on Chicago. Did not get a call last night from our (almost put recruit).. Sailor :) in Ricky Heaven but understand they get to go back at 2:00 today. Hopefully today. I will be spending the day cutting and cooking for the Thanksgiving dinner I am cooking and carting there in a cooler and rented mini-van (to have room for the cooler, etc.). Ahhh the things we do to try to keep some traditions and make some new special ones :) Good luck to all those who have BS21 tonight. My thoughts and prayers are with you all for a successful evening and joyful call tomorrow.
roots4bevo, I think Recruit Heaven also has phone and computer access for those the RDC grants permission to. Rumor has it several divisions will be able to access Recruit Heaven today. Fingers crossed Div 21 is included in that and I'm home to catch it. There is shopping for graduation to do. Hehe
OMGosh! The weather says it's 9 degrees right now in Great Lakes. YIKES! I will gladly endure these temps though if it means seeing my sailor graduate. 3 more days. I just can't wait! :)
Good Morning All !
Pizza Hut and Taco Bell CatMom509. :)
roots4bevo,
Recruit Heaven is right next to the NEX where there are 4 fast foot restaurants including KFC and Subway and I can't remember the other two. The only time the SRs can go there is after they finish Battlestations and have earned that as a reward~~
Wee are at Navy Lodge also.
momm2five: Congrats on your sailor being an Honor Recruit! Wonderful honor. You should receive something from RTC re: a special ceremony prior to PIR for these Honor Recruits/families. Hopefully it will come in the mail for you before you leave for PIR. You may want to give them a call on Monday to ask about this if you are leaving then:
847 688 2405
....or...email them from the RTC website.
Hoping he heals soon, En Turtle. Stress fractures are VERY COMMON in bootcamp and set many back...but most make it through!
