Welcome to the discussion group for divisions 801 & 802!!!

It only happens a few times a year when there are two special ops groups in one TG.

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina and a couple more ladies will be joining you to answer your questions about this "800" division. Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

And so it starts-thank you Ellen, for some reason this really means a lot to us- and now families- we support our amazing sailors!

Thank you for starting this group!  I have a son in 802 and his buddy arrived at Great Lakes a few days ahead of him... perhaps he is in 801.  I guess we have to wait a while yet to get some mail.

Sometimes no news is just no news!

It has taken a little longer than usual to get them going, but we have had some questions as to how many divisions were in this TG. This is the largest that we have seen and the RTC is slow on getting PIRs and divisions posted.

These two divisions will also have a couple additional "vet" moms joining you to answer questions for you. As Spec Ops divisions, things are handled a little differently for them at BC so your SRs may be doing things at different times from the rest, and different things from the rest.

The first thing all with SRs in an 800 division need to do is change your profile here on N4Ms to private.I see that both of you, michie and JackFlash, have already done so. Huge Thumbs Up  As more join this group ask them to do the same!!!

JackFlash, Yes, you will find that "no news is good news"

sjtina,

Good Morning.  I think we have all been waiting for this discussion to get more information about what our SRs are doing.  Can you please share how their training is different than others?  What is a typical day like?  How are things most likely going for them at this early stage of their training?

sierra203,

you mentioned earlier that your older son had just gotten his "brown shirt' ..... would you explain to this new navy mom what that means?

I am excited that it looks like this group  is going to be very active and supportive which helps as we all wait for news from our SRs.

Thank you all.

Treymom, KTkat found my schedule and posted it. A mom in one of the previous divisions posted this from her a letter she received from her son.

A brown shirt is someone who made it through BUDs Hell Week. A huge accomplishment.

Besides their day starting earlier, ending later, and swim time, phone calls are limited in SO. You will probably read that other divisions are getting phone calls, but only expect 3 from your guys. The "Im herel" call another about 3 weeks in, and finally the "I'm a sailor call" closer to PIR. Any other calls are sporadic, if any and considered a treat.

801 and 802 are training together and will class up in PreBuds together. Buckle up, its a wild ride.

Sttina,

Is the about 3 week call, 3 weeks from when they arrive or after 3 weeks of training?  Also, do they just call anytime for those or are they on Sundays or probably no rhyme or reason as to when?  Thanks.

its about 3 weeks after they get there. Unfortunately no rhyme or reason is right, but I have never known the calls to come on a weekend.

I just got signed on this w/e. Any idea why 802 is no longer listed but a 900 group is for graduation 11/30/12. My son is in 802. I'm watching the Navy site to see when they post the PIR for 11/30. Should be the next one on there.

No real letter yet :( Just the form letter!

Also, please be sure I set my privacy setting correctly! Thanks!

Good morning! Thanks for starting this group! I have a son in 801. He has 4 other buddies that left within a week of him so I am assuming they are scattered between 801 & 802. Looking forward to more information concerning the daily routines of both divisions. I "heard" that the 800 divisions wear a different color uniform than the other divisions. Can anyone confirm this? If true do you know why?Yes JackFlash....No news is good news however I hope we all get a letter this week to settle the nerves a bit! :)

proudmomma, as far as I know they wear camo blue like the rest of them. Although they do wear some skimpy looking swim trunks.

I chuckle at the skimpy comment- my son swam and they wore speedos and he ran and was teased throughout our community for wearing short - shorts. We tease him that the hardes part of buds will be wearing clothes :)

Good Morning Ya'll! My son is 801 and I am so excited for him! I am kind of laid back about the mail thing, 1 cause I know he hates to write and 2 because my hubby is Army retired. Just kind of used to the military thing of not getting stuff done, getting everything done and everything in the middle. We are new to the Navy and certainly new to SO, but we are also a military family.... if ever I can be of help in answering military questions please let me know. I know how worried everyone is, but truly, if anything were to be WRONG you would know immediately. So, as long as we hear nothing, training is going well.
