I get so emotional when I get mail from my babies...2 letters from my son and 1 from my daughter.  They both are doing well...my poor son got 8 teeth extracted...how can that be...all at once.  He said it hurts like crazy but not much bleeding as the dentist is so good...lol...he says he is out of training for 3 whole days...He says, "Mom, this Navy thing is pretty awesome...".."...all my RDCs are the finest."  Wooo...."the food is great."

I got another letter and an answered questionaire in the mail today. He still sounds upbeat and says that he is doing well. He stated that his DIV is slowly but surely coming together. YAY DIV 040 ~ HOOYRAH!!

So far so good with him receiving letters with printed pics. He said his shipmates have commented on his sister's pics - nice looking gals! He has always been a proud but protective brother :-)

I keep encouraging him to push through the tough times and hold his chin up that we are all so proud of him. He ended his last letter "Future Sailor" - tears of joy began to fall.

I got my first phone call too!  What a great sound...his voice!  All is well, has passed everything, and he has gotten real good at sewing, lol!!

I just received my first phone call too!!!  So happy to know that my child is doing well!  They are allowed pictures I was told.  Asked about Grad N Go and my child does not "think" that is the case.  I am so excited for PIR to come!!!!

Comment by DramaboysMom on December 9, 2010 at 7:27pm

OK YAY!  I got the call, I got the call! Got to hear him for 27 minutes.   So he cleared up a couple things.First and foremost the deal with the pictures. He said that the RDC's look at them and if they don't care for them then they will make the div do extra PT.  It's discresionary. For him, he said dont bother. He doesnt want to risk trying to determine what might or might not be a picture that could get everyone in trouble.  He is really looking forward to Christmas and he said that he is probably not a Grad N Go , but he said he would probably know more later. YAY!

To all my ladies in 07-046---  HOPE YOU GOT YOUR CALL AS WELL!!!!

OMG keljacmom...that is too funny...well funny now...probably not so much then...lol...maybe I should start putting those commandments up in the boot camp for moms groups...here is the thing...the truth is the RDCs are going to find some reason to give them PT or IT. If it isn't for pictures it will be shifting their eyes, leaning against the bulkhead (the wall), whatever....so don't be too hard on yourselves. This is the first I have heard about no pictures even within the letter itself...but who knows. I do know that sometimes young ladies or maybe even young men have been known to send their honey's some pretty shall we say "revealing" pictures....perhaps they are sending "sexters"...it is my feeble attempt at a new boot camp word for sexting...lol...and this is just not allowed...so it may be that what they got the collective beating for was this very inappropriate picture...but I don't know.

I think the only thing you can do...is resolve not to send pictures until you send another letter asking if you can send pictures. Make it funny...tell your recruit that you too are in boot camp and you have placed yourself on picture restriction..and are undergoing intensive training at the navy for moms site in what is acceptable behavior in the letter writing arena for a civilian to military personnel. Then finish it up by saying...any addition rules for engagement would be appreciated...or something.
