I know it seems like a long time until you all get to see your sailors but it is not long at all. And the mail is taking longer than usual because of the Holidays. If you have not ordered PIR Ribbons and plan to do so, please send me a friend request asap. I want to get these made very soon and in the mail before Christmas if possible. They are only $5.00 each and make a great keepsake. No matter how many you get shipping is only $5.00 for PRIORITY 2-3 day shipping. Let me know ASAP. Thanks :-)

I got three letters today: November 28th, December 1st and December 3rd!

The division is definitely grad and go. He said in the letter they might only get until 7:15pm to spend with family and the plane could leave as early as 9am. He also said there is a special pass to get family through to wait at the gate until the plane takes off.

At first when I read this I could not stop crying but I guess a little time with him is better than none at all? =/

I also can't help but cry in the pages he spends telling how much he misses me and everything. I wish there was SOMETHING that I could do to make this a little easier. =[

He wrote out the lyrics to 'Dream a Little Dream of Me" I've never heard it before it's an older song but it was soooo cute that he remembered all the lyrics and wrote them out to me in one of the letters.

Other than that.. a little info for ALL OF DIVISION 042:
**The Password for the entrance pass has changed. I'm sure your recruit will tell you what it is though. I don't want to make that information public on N4M... I don't think the Navy would like that very much

**They all now have their NWU's(these are the blue camo's with their name on it). They all have been issued their military ID which he claims most of the pictures look "terrifying" from being awake more than 48 hours the first couple of nights when the pictures were taken. They all had "special physicals" not sure what that means though.
**On Wednesday December 1st they had their first written exam and second Zone inspection!

My hubby reminded me this morning that it is possible that our son watched someone else get "beat" ( not my words, but a former Sailor's words) for having photos and like someone else said maybe not appropriate pics and just wanted to reiterate that we not send photos even copy pasted because he didn't want to get PR or IT. But the way i read it he said (and his was in all caps underlined) do not send pictures. we get long PT/IT for them. Any pictures at all Ours were of he and his brother and of his pup and a family shot taken in September. Has anyone else from 07-046 heard the same? Maybe mine is just being over protective of not getting "beat" ( yes I know it isn't a real beating, its an emotional break down that needs to be done.... I'm just writing it like it came to me!)

Vanessa, my SR said the same thing in his first letters. The only mail he received so far was from me and I know other family members and friends had sent as soon as we had the address which was day two. He was upset that no one else had written. I use typed stickers most of the time so it may be that my mail was easier to read for distribution. They have a large group to distribute mail to. He did say they get mail daily.

Ash, meant to say Happy Birthday. I am praying you get a special phone call today.
Comment by Tamme on December 9, 2010 at 12:00pm
The mail is slower right now because of all the Christmas mailing.

I sent my pictures to my son when he was in boot and he didn't have any problem whatsoever. I did so again this time so I pray it didn't cause any problems! I think the only time it causes problems is if they are inappropriate pictures. If it is just family, etc., all "should" be fine.
Comment by DramaboysMom on December 9, 2010 at 11:59am
PJ I wouldn't worry about the pictures. It is what it is, and our SR are being trained to deal with adversity. And like Lynne said earlier, it could just be that division. Don't beat your self up over it. If your SR CANT have them they will let you know as mine did. It sounds like most div or RDC's are ok with it.

To order the ribbons just send me a friend request and I will send you all the info for ordering. And I sent 4x6 prints to my sailor when she was in boot camp and there were no problems at all. So I hope the same is true for all of you as well.

Just a few questions about the NEX giftcard.....are they able to use it at bootcamp? and will we get it in our mail and then we send it to him or will they mail it directly to recruit? thanks for your help....
