aMom, you hit on the nail. They have to earn the phone calls but supposedly we are supposed to get on in the third week as one the three regular phone calls - I'm here, 3-week call and I'm A Sailor call after Battlestations.

It is freezing here in SC as well. Bitter, bitter though in GL.

Lynne,
I have a question and I was wondering if you would accept my friend request before I ask my question publicly.
Thanks

Good morning everyone. I wanted to remind you all that if you have not ordered your PIR ribbons yet and want some please let me know. With the holidays this month I want to get the ribbons for this group mailed early to make sure you get them in plenty of time. I hope you all have a great morning and afternoon. I am FREEZING here in NC. I am off to work on ribbons but I will be checking back throughout the day for messages and orders.

logansmama,
My son is also on ship 07 div 043. No phone call since arrival. Sounds like from the letters that there are alot of timings and perfection must be obtained. I am figuring that is why....Once they figure out that it is not just their own perfection but the perfection of the whole team that matters then we will see some privilages granted. Just guessing of course :). We also recieved the plea for xmas but with only 19 days to PIR just after xmas we cannot quantify two trips. Besides...I am saving up to fly and visit one of his work stations overseas (if that happens) sometime in the near future!

Lynne.... wow u made my day end with some perspective ... or at least confirmation of the message i heard in church this morning... it was about how things we go through in this life is only part of a bigger plan ... i was late to service and sat in a spot were i don't usually sit.. God is a trip .. He sat me behind a woman that had a scarf over hear bald head ( i assume she recently had kimo or radiation) she nodded and listened and ENCOURAGED the young woman sitting next to her whom was tearing.. wow "she" encouraged? and i sat there thinking of my son.. thinking of my past ... thinking of how his father wasnt there.. of the abuse he witnessesd... of the time i was lost... of the struggle we went through and Gods grace.. of the surgery malpractice that happen to me and how its damaged me forever... and then I looked up again and thought "she was encouraging her directly and me indirectly... As YOU have tonight!!! thank u sister..and I don't say that lightly or as a cliche ! your pain is a piece of something bigger... it's just so not with in human understanding! but as the pastor taught today... trust is the core of it all. God bless u and thank u for sharing with me and the "encouragmant"

Your sarcasm and forgiveness about your situation Lynne is admirable and I think I can speak for everyone that your never ending motivation and encouragement is inspirational.. Thank you

Blessed.....you have every right to feel the way you do...and in your shoes...I would most likely feel that way too...and trust me..I have spent many moments in my life being angry when my dad and I was a young child, when my first child was still-born and recently when I lost the use of my legs because a drug company just hid a few minor details about drug interactions...so don't apologize for your feelings...your frustration...your anger...your sadness...or your hurt...that is what we are here for...to listen...to encourage...and just to let you know we care even if we can't change things!! You are not a baby...you a simply a mom. My guess is, he will get the opportunity to go somewhere for Christmas where he will be treated like the cats meow...he will call you...and it won't be perfect but it will be okay....and when you see him at PIR...you just pack a few things and decorate that room for Christmas because Christmas can be any day of the year that YOU want it to be.

Well ladies, its Sunday night and I live a bit south of South Bend which is about 2 hours form GL. It was predicted that we could have gotten 1-5 inches of snow, but it all depends on which way the wind blows off of lake Michigan. At this time, we might have about 1.5 inches, but the temps are dropping which means slippery condition in the morning. I know if my SR knew what we might be headed for ,,he would be smiling big that he doesn't have to shovel or blow.
Looking ahead this week here's hoping that "contact will be made" for all that haven't heard. For those that are lucky enough to get more letters and calls, WHoooo Ray for you. Enjoy it! As Red Green says, "keep your stick on the ice. We're all pulling for ya!"
