Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I would love that too. I just wish I could afford to fly there to spend time with my boy even for just a couple of hours. California is just too far away.

Thanks navyfam! Didn't even know there was a Navy FB. The adopt-a-sailor is really nice. Almost wish I lived in the area....would be fun to cook for a few Boot Camp boys!

Logansmama Our kids are SHIPMATES...my daughter is in division 044 so supposedly the do some work together. The experienced Moms can correct me!!! LOL

No problem! If you are on FB be sure to "like" Great Lakes Naval Station's page and US Navy Recruit Training Command. The US Navy RTC page said our kids will be eligible for the adopt-a-sailor for Christmas...they will be able to go with immediate family member, provided the form is filled out & returned or they will go out in groups like those who are PIR this week did for Thanksgiving.
Just a heads up for all of you FB'rs alot of info on the Navy's FB pages. The Skipper even responds and comments on post on the GL Naval Station Page.

We are staying through Monday as well because it is a holiday so he will have the day off as well.
