Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

The shuttle service I was recommended to was Airport Express. 773-247-1200.

diannep - I called and made reservations with the Marriott reservations desk and that was what I was told. However, I just called to confirm with Lordess with Springhill Suites directly and she said you are correct there is a fee. The shuttle service is performed by an outside company and they have a shuttle leaving at 6:30 and 7:30. It's $6 per person round trip and $3 for the sailor if you bring him/her back to the hotel. Sorry for the misinformation.

Hotel reservations made and car rental confirmed....I can not wait for 1/14/11 to get here, I am so excited to see my son. Is there a meet and greet other than the one at the Ramada, I am sorry if I am asking something that has already been answered but I couldn't find any info. on one.

Thingamabob, I didn't realize what group I was in, obviously your daughters PIR is the same as our sons. Sometimes I think I am losing my mind, ever since my Son left.

I am down in Florida and went with Spirit. Also if you are a Triple A member that could also help. Another good one is www.sidesteps.com

Have you ladies tried SouthWest Airlines or Spirit or JetBlue.
