I am new to this. My son left on November 9th to boot camp. Missing him a lot...we have received a letter from him...thank God! I was going crazy not knowing how he was doing. He's doing good!

It does help Jessica. Now I have another question. My son set up his Navy Federal Reserve account a week and a half before he left. His debit card came after he left. How would you suggest i get that to him. or better to send a check I guess. whom do we make it out to?

Next I have a general question for all your moms, GF, wives, sisters of PIR1/14/11.
What day did your SR go in? Ours went in on 11-10 and didn't get processed ( we think) until 11-19, at least that is what the date on the envelope said. Does anyone know if this is common now? My dad was drafted in during WWII so even if he was alive, he couldn't help with that, and my husband enlisted but it was at the tail end of the Vietnam War so he said he was in and processed immediately. Any ideas?

Yeah! First letter from our daughter today!!! Pretty short letter, seems ok & said that she has blisters all over :( But she seemed pretty up beat! I expect to get some more soon :) Thankful to God for the answered prayer!!! It wasn't postmarked until the 24th; so either it took awhile to get through the mail system or her division is allowed to write other than on Sundays. Looking forward to a phone call next.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know how hard it is to be away from your SR right now. The hardest part will soon be over, they will get your letters and you will be getting more. Start planning your trip and know that this time will pass quickly. Don't forget to order your ribbons and if you are going to make a scrapbook or shadowbox of your sailors Navy journey be sure to check out the scrapbook embellishment pics on my page. I make all kinds of stuff you can't buy in stores and from now until Christmas all scrapbook orders from N4M members receive 10% off your scrapbook order and a free embellishment. :)

It's great to hear all the positive comments about our recruits. Thanksgiving was really tough for my daughter and I. We really missed my son. I know that even though it's tough, he will be fine. My first letter arrived Friday (he's not much for writing). I guess I was hoping for something a little more upbeat. Don't get me wrong, he is fine and knows that everything they are going through has a purpose, but he misses us. The three of us are very close because it has just been the three of us for a long time. We have been sending letters, but from the tone of the letter, he hasn't received any yet.
