Got my amtrak tickets and my hotel (Ramada) reserved!! WooHoo-now I am feeling so much more excited. We went with Ramada because of the 2 beds and I'm not sure if my oldest son will be able to make the trip or not, but just in case, it will be there. Also, we liked the idea of having the restaurant in the hotel so that we won't have to travel to find food! Just gotta figure out this metra system there and I'll just have to sit back and wait!

They are woken for several things. when my brother went through RTC they were woken up told to take apart their beds and remake them within a certain amount of time. It's all about breaking them down so that the Navy can build them back up. They get woken for whatever the RDC's feel like waking them up for

Does everyone here know that the recruits are awakened in the middle of the night to iron???? Yep, they are.

Karla: My son had 9 divisions. The only way it may be longer with lots of divisions is the time it takes when they all march in, but that wouldn't make it much longer. The ceremony itself is about 90 minutes long....starts at 9 and is over by about10:30. There are pre-ceremony activities that go on.

Yes, NS is correct. They start with between 80-88 recruits per division, but they lose some, and then gain some more later on (those who were setback will rejoin a new division which is where they gain them). My son's division ended up with about 65 by PIR.

NS: Lydia, who is helping on the 1/7 group, was in the PIR with 14 divisions. You should post on there and ask her what it was like! I know she said it was very exciting!

Ash-NukeWife(Ship12 Div042) Congratulations on the baby! It's funny-but I just wrote a letter to my son FROM our new cat. I had to laugh, it was really cute. You could say stuff like "today mommy ate xxx and I didn't like it! I gave it back to her and she got an awful case of heartburn!" or " Mommy was sleeping today, but I wasn't tired, so to occupy my time, I went swimming and ran a couple laps and finished with some light aerobics!" Also, you could scan a copy of the baby picture if you have one, or find one at the stage of yours and print it on that page. Don't forget to add the comments that the doctor/nurse or other family members say. Or something like "Mommy said today she is getting stretch marks, she said she doesn't like it and felt kinda sad. I made her a promise to make her forget all about her stretch marks the day I get to see her."
