You can make a group for the division to help find people in the same division. Also it will help with tracking when you will get a phone call or recieve a letter since they do everything together.

I have heard that some of you have your personal email being bombarded by navy for mom posts lol. I was getting over 500 a day and it was taking forever to find emails that I need to read. So here is how to fix that, if you care to. Go to your page. On the right side of your page there is a list containing inbox, alerts, friends, settings. Click on settings, then on the left click on email and then you can decide what notifications come to your private email. You will still get all your comments, messages, and posts on Navy for Moms, it just won't come to your private email address. :-)

Ummm - please revise my last post to read "They really are becoming strong men and WOMEN!" Sorry to those of you who have daughters there - my one-track mind got the best of me!

HI My son left Nov 9th and I received the call it was a killer, the box came fast but I have not gotten my letter yet I am hoping this will be his date. This site is awesome but it takes its emotional toll on me. Sometimes I find it just hard to just breath without him. I know he is going to be fine and I look forward to making new Mom and Grandmom friends on site. Thanks to everyone

Oh, Joyceann, I'm sorry the phone call was so hard. Maybe my son was just not letting on how difficult it really is. He is 23 so that might make a difference, too. I don't know how old your son is but I can imagine at 18 it would be a really different experience. Just try to keep your focus on the end result. My neighbor said that when she finished she felt like there was NOTHING she couldn't accomplish! These boys really are becoming strong men. I'll pray for your son!

Joycean, so sorry to hear that...I was afraid that it would have been challenging for my son and daughter..even though they wanted to join so badly...before going in I kept on reminding them that whatever treatment or is happening is uniform amongst alll so do they should not feel picked out...it is just character building...they both seem to have gone in all charged up...my son watched many documentaries and movies....read everything he could possible put his fingers on...so he was all ready.

redsmom-hope our kids get to be buddies. Mine sure needs friends right now. He also got to call home today for security clearance issues. I don't understand why as we did this with his recruiter once already. My son sounded a mess and I told him I loved him and was proud of him and he said "I love you too", but I'm not supposed to talk about that. Poor guy, broke my heart. All I could do is tell him how proud of him I was. I told him he was doing great- he replied "it sure doesn't feel like it." I know it will get better for him, but as a mom, I think I would have felt better if an elephant had stepped on my heart. All our lives us moms have protected our babies and now it is so hard to urge them on--even when we know that is what we have to do. I sure hope I made him feel better. My day went downhill after that.

Hey NS! I didn't get to talk to him for very long but I thought the fact that he thought he might be able to call in a week or so was a good sign! Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Lucky!! My boyfriend is in the same division as your son! Glad you got to at least hear his voice! Did he say how the div was doing?! Hope he sounded alright over the phone! I'm sure that absolutely made your night!

Well I got a surprise call from my son today! What a treat! He has only been there 9 days so I sure wasn't expecting it. He needed me to email information for a security clearance so that's why he was able to call. He sounded great and said he hoped to be able to call again in a week or so. He said he was already with his division which kind of surprised me because that will be 9 weeks til graduation.
