Well, a crazy turn of events this morning. I just got off the phone with my husband -- you ladies were right, if it wasn't yesterday it would be today! However, it was a mix of crazy news. He was ASMO'ed for failing his swim test, and separated from his division. He did finally pass today, and will be reunited with his division on Tuesday. He hasn't gone through BattleStations yet..he said that he will go through it on Monday. He said that there was a letter coming in the mail stating that he may not graduate on time, but he said to disregard it now because he passed his swim test. (This was so much to hear this morning!)

On the other hand, he was sick for three days because he came down with the flu and couldn't function. (Seems like even when we are far apart, our bodies function similarly..haha). He said that he feels much better now. He said that he will be graduating on Friday pending he passes BattleStations. I hope nothing changes from here on out! Please pray for my SR. He's never sounded so in distress.

BearyBlue NW check the discussions and scroll down. There is a 046 group already. Several of us are already on it. Also their brother division is 045.

Hope the snow system for Lake Effect gets it out of it's system this weekend. They are closing roads in South Bend, 35 mile north of me. They have gotten between 20-30 inches of snow since yesterday. the 80/90 toll road runs through it.
For those that have no idea what lake effect is it happens when very cold air moves over a very large warmer body of water. The wind which picks up water vapor and freezes and deposits LOTS of snow on the leeward shores. ( that would be on the opposite shores of GL) But the way the wind often blows makes it snow LOADS in South Bend.

...and if you DO mail something at the end, make a copy of it and take with you to PIR to give to your sailor in case it doesn't arrive!

gmaof6:  just checked a Navy Times article online.  It said that you can purchase cell phone contracts at the NEX (Navy Exchange) and that they usually have clauses that allow your sailor to get out of the contract during deployment.  So I would start there.  There is one at RTC and there is a larger one right off base. Of course, sailor must be with you.

Good luck to the new sailors/recruits in Captains Cup today!  A fun distraction for them.  Hoping that those who did not get their I'm a Sailor calls yesterday will hear today.

Congrats to PIR 1/14's first group of SAILORS!

Anyone know if there is a place near or on base to purchase a cellphone/service?
