Ok, I am praying for all the boys today and everyday.  There is so much on their young shoulders.  Jesus, the ultimate physician, we were created by him, for him, he knows what we need.  May he hold each one of them in the palm of his hand.

Thank you, Jesus......

usually they will let  SR keep their own glasses if they it is a new prescription ( like within a couple of months) and if they dont distract from their uniform. So no colored frames or anything. Also sometimes it depends on how the RDC are feeling that night during processing lol

TO ALL ~ if in doubt about mailing glasses or contacts please ask on the RTC FB page or call the POA (public affaris office). They maybe able to answer all your questions and concerns and confirm if they can be mailed overnight or only reqular mail.
Hope this helps out some :-)

The reason the glasses came back in the box is not a big deal. My SR sent his wallet back, and they are allowed to have wallets. He said that when they were instructed to put everything in the box, it was unclear what they could keep, so in order to be "better safe than sorry", some SR's sent home things they really could have kept (like my SR with his wallet). He wore his regular glasses to RTC and brought a pair of contacts. Thank God, because I saw him on Christmas and he had to wear the BCG and they're... scary... Ha ha ha :)

To all with the eye glasses issue.  Again, I am not sure about each DIV because through the course of the many weeks we have all been together we have all read that each DIV's RDC runs things differently and has different orders.  My SR kept his own glasses at boot.  He was able to wear them on Christmas Day and was told that he could wear them for PIR.

Now why was he allowed to keep his "normal" glasses (they are smaller in shape than the BCG they are issued, but also black framed)  and others sent theirs home, I can't tell you.    It's sort of like why some DIV's are allowed to have pictures from home sent, or newspaper articles and others aren't.

And Again..... for those whose Sons, daughters, brothers, sisters GF,BF Grandchild, what ever your relation is to the SR going through BS......

HONOR COURAGE and COMMITTMENT  HoooYAH!  Go Navy!

Lex- you should get the "I'm a sailor" call tomorrow after Battlestations! From what I've been reading they start calling around 2 pm Central time unless they have watch & then they most likely would call Saturday.
