We like the Homewood Suites because you can get two bedrooms for less than renting two rooms.  We stayed for Christmas at Candlewood Suites and that was nice, just don't offer big enough rooms for our group.  Don't forget to use your graduation discount.

We have reservations at Ramada and am now having second thoughts! I've gone online to check out hotels in Gurnee, but not many of them have very good reviews - at least not those with comparable rates. Anyone been there lately who can make a recommendation?

Jaysmom, I stayed at the Ramada Inn in December for my daughter's PIR and thought the same.  I figured if I stayed in Ramada, just any hotel will do next.  Ramada gets a lot of business because they are the only ones who will do that meet and greet.

having trouble finding pics from the Christmas trip to Indiana the recruits made, anyone know if they are posted?  My daughter had a fantastic time and I thank every person that made it possible.  She is Ship 07 Division 44.

Susan Higgins I am posting this for a mother who is traveling home from a wonderful day in chicago with her recruit and mine! The RDC asked her recruit to ask his mom to post on here and N4M to PLEASE NOT SEND ANY MORE BAKED GOODS to DIV039 Ship 12. They are all being thrown away because they cannot have them. The suggestion from the RDC is if the need to mail something to a service member is there then please send chapstick, baby wipes etc to troops in Afghanistan. I am relaying this message.

Hi everyone just back from Chicago!  How wonderful to see how strong, confident and proud they all were!!  Just a side note, the Ramada which seems to be the hub of the Meet and Greet and PIR,  I will just share some observations, the hotel is very old and smells of cigarettes and the stuff they use to cover old cigarette smoke.  The rooms were very clean and the staff could not do more to be helpful!  The restaurant was not good at all and was not cheap even with the 10% off they give on food. In Waukegan othen than this it was all fast food and one diner type attached to another old hotel.  We went the day after Christmas into Gurnee, the town was much more modern then Waukegan and the restaurants were all the chains we know as well as some fun Irish Bars etc.  There is also the Gurnee Mall that has a fun Rainforest Cafe all of this is only five minutes down the road from the Ramada and it really is decades apart from eachother.  The Irish Pub was so reasonably priced.  It was Timothy O'Toole's sports bar I think.   There were several nicer hotels etc.  I hope this is helpful.
