DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I saw a discussion thread like this on another group and thought I would borrow the idea so we can all share the funny things or touching things our SR's write home about in their letters.  So anyone that has already recieved letters from their SR's please share any funny comments that they are sending back home.  As soon as I get a letter, I'll post...

Glad I could be of service even if it was unintentional :D
I love J. Cash music!!!
My son Luke in 09/016 knows a bunch of Johnny cash. He can help him with lyrics.

My daughter said that she is not allowed anywhere the deck log because her hand writing is the worst in the company.  She was never more thankful that she had horrible hand writing.
Thats funny, My son penmanship has always been bad, even has tutor that did not help. I will have to say when I got my letter I was so surprise how well written it was. I guess he wanted to make sure I could read it. He d id not think much about letter writing when he left. His tune has changed. He said thanks mom for the address book you filled out with friend and relative info. Please send more stamps and ask everyone you know to please write me and I promise to write them back.  The navy brings value back to some of those old fashion ways.
Melissa - my son said "you will notice the difference in my writing because it has to be done a certain way which is dumb"  His writing was horrible too before he left. Guess the RDC's should teach penmanship in grade school..
haha! My husband didn't say anything, but I definitely noticed his penmanship was a LOT better. It might be a tough few months for them all - but it's going to be great to be able to read his notes and have him make the bed! haha
I know what you mean all the slashes over 0

The penmanship thing is funny.  My son's handwriting has always been terrible.  I have noticed in his letters home that his handwriting has greatly improved, but everyone else thinks it is terrible...I actually read the last letter to my husband, cause he said he couldn't read it...I could, and I am the one to notice the improvement.

Thought I'd share something my daughter wrote which cracked me up.  "Man Mom I sure do miss the beach, pretty soon I am going to look like I belong in the Twilight movies."

OMG ... that's hilarious!!! LOVE IT!
