OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Question?  Is there any one else who are flying into Ohara and staying in Waukegan?  I have made a call for a taxi service and was looking to see if anyone would like to share a cab/cost?  I have emailed him and waiting his email back--when I talked to him yesterday, he said he could get all the information to me in a couple of days.  He would pick us up at the airport (for charge) and take us to the Hotel.  Then, pick us up the day of the PIR and take us for free (that is a gift to the Sailor).  The ride back from PIR was a charge but, not much.  I can have exact cost as soon as I recieve his email.  Just 44 more days!!!

dar:  Division discussion groups are always preferable over separate division groups started.  That way, you can stay on this page.  Also, doesn't clog up N4Moms with too many groups.  Division numbers are only during bootcamp so it is better to keep it as a discussion.  I see that there is one started above.

Things are getting a little better for me. Didn't go into my SR's bedroom once yesterday and lay in his bed. I still miss him so much but can handle it much better now.. Can't wait for that first real letter.. I don't know how moms do this with out this website. Everyone on here are the best and without our support I think I would go crazy..

Hi all.. I am a Veteran per say and was given this link to check in with you all.  My son was Spec Ops so if there are any 800 moms who have any questions, I can try and help you out.

My son left for Boot Camp last year on Dec 8th and his PIR was 2/11/11,  I am glad to see that some of you will be able to see your Sailors for the Holidays!

She is right, it will get better. And you will definitely be able to tell a difference in her letters as it does get better ;-)

Just booked our rooms for PIR.  I booked  them at the LaQuinta Inn in Gurnee.  They are reasonably priced & within 8 miles of RTC.  We stayed there last year when my son graduated.

Peggy, it really depends on the RDC, some allow it and some do not. If he doesn't ask you to stop then it is fine. We normally suggest scanning them and then printing a whole page and send it with a regular letter. That way there are no small articles to get dropped.
Comment by diannep on October 17, 2011 at 4:49pm

Peggy:  By the time of PIR, most divisions have lost some SRs so they usually average about 65-75 sailors in each division.  The largest PIR group I have seen on here is 14 divisions...and there have been alot with 13 divisions.

Renting a car is the best if you can swing it.  If not, next best thing is to call SARGE and arrange transporation with him for PIR weekend.  He is wonderful and full of info....cheaper than cabs too...you won't regret it.  He has people who work for him also...all very nice.  He is retired military and beloved by the A school students there.  Here's his number:
