Sara:  I know that the ladies in your division will be happy to get piks of him at PIR...maybe even one of his buddies will be able to take him with his family for liberty on PIR day?  Just remember...there are MANY who have no family there on PIR Day...they still get to leave the base on the "buddy system" basis. They have a blast, so don't worry about him.  I'm sure he will want to make a long phone call to you once it is all over.  Be sure to ask in your division discussion above if anyone could get piks of him for you.  These ladies are great and I know will do that.

Is anyone else not able to attend graduation?  My son is going reserves so he decided to sign up and then left for boot camp all within 7 weeks, so I had already used up my vacation time for the year, what with high school graduation and a mini vacation with just him and me to visit my side of the family, while his dad stayed home and worked.  Also, with the short amount of time, we don't have the money to fly out and stay for the weekend.  I feel very bad for him that he isn't going to have any support there when he graduates.  Makes me cry I feel so bad for him.  Does anyone know if they will have time off between boot camp and A school?  My husband is really hoping our son will be able to come home for a few days, his grandfather has cancer and the treatment hasn't worked and they should be finally getting back here after a year down in Florida, where he stayed to do the treatment seeing that is where he was diagnosed.  This might be his last Christmas, and it would be wonderful if our son could see him for a few days...they helped raise him, and they have missed him so much this past year...

Meet and Greet

Hi everyone!

I'd like to invite someone from this group add the Meet N Greet to Events.

All you have to do is click on the date (in this case it would be December 1st  for the M&G but you would use 12/02/2011 in the title) on the Calendar on the lower right on this page, it will take you to the events for that day. Click "add" and fill in the boxes.

Then everyone from this group may go there to RSVP for the M & G. ANYONE may attend...the Ramada does this for every PIR group as a courtesy, it is free. Those staying at the Ramada will get a voucher for two free drinks and they have a cash bar. They do not mind if you bring in a water or soft drink with you. The RSVP just helps them get a head count so they know how much food to prepare. But I am sure they make a bit extra!

Here is the info:

Meet N Greet

Thursday December 2, 2011

6-8 pm

Ramada Waukegan

200 N. Green Bay Rd.

847-244-2400

When you get to the description box you may add a personal invitation! You can also add the info in that box again if you like.

Hi sjtina...we all think so too...glad to have you "aboard"!

We always need moms willing to stick around and help out...so if any of you later on still have "the itch" stick around the site. You'll want to definitely stay on this group and connect still. When your recruits graduate we will add "Alumni..." to the title...no need to make an alumni group...so you can keep in touch.

Tank's Mom, that is what my husband says too.  My first holiday without him. Makes me so sad to think this is the way it will be.  don't get me wrong I am very proud of him and what he is doing.  I amjust so used to having home for everything.  Even meatloaf Mondays...hahaha   I understand $ I thought I would look into it and maybe just maybe---well NOT!!  My goodness the prices were way to much for my budget...I wonder when they will let us know about the grad and go..have you heard?  Maybe I will get a letter or phone all from him before to long.  Fingers crossed!!  Have you recieved anything?

Just wondering if any one is going to take their son and or daughter out for Thanksgiving?  WIth it being so close to PIR date.....I would love to fly up and take him out for the day (missing him lots) but, I keep thinking that would be silly..I have recieved the PIR letter.  He sounded fine--food good---said he didn't slept for the first 3 days.   Thought he might get a shower Friday.  But, he knew he could do this...Even put a PS in there to his brother--Brother, you couldn't last in this well, not as long as me.  When he put a joke at the end I knew he was fine...still missing him..would love a phone call and or letter.

I got my form letter on Thursday that said he is in Ship 04, Div 802.  He said he was doing great.  What really surprised me is that his penmanship was the best I've ever seen it!  Looks like the Navy is doing him some good already.
