My2Sailors - TY on the username...and on that note...I'll be posting this periodically in the beginning.
Community Guidelines and OPSEC
Hello Everyone.
Safety for your SR (future Sailor) and you!
Sailors LAST names are NOT allowed anywhere on this site. If your last name is different from your sailors it is still not recommended.
FIRST names ARE allowed but I, and some of the other “veteran” moms, will most often advise you not to use them. This is a public forum and anyone can read the posts-they do not have to be a member (if the group is set to private, the public cannot read but all N4M members can-so all you have to do is join) While they use their last names in BC (in fact they don't usually, if ever, find out each other’s first names until the end of BC), the RDC's know who they are and can then, with the right amount of info, link them up to you. So, let’s say you use your last name in your N4M name, post a picture of your SR...easy to match up...and so on.
Why does that matter? Your SR's are trying to get through BC with as little undue attention as possible. "Fly under the radar", so to speak. There have been reports from moms of their recruits being matched up with them. Some are just identified…some get IT (Intensive Training), I am guessing this depends on WHAT is posted…I know of one mom who said that her son had to do 5 push-ups just for every time she posted!
The MOST important reason for being discreet is OPSEC-Operational Security. This is a way of life for us now. It will be for your Sailors career and for some of them, even more so, depending on their individual security clearance. Some moms have mentioned that even today after years they do not know EXACTLY what their sailor does.
SPECOPS...definitely need to be VERY careful.

Please take the time to review this information.
Thank You.
@Zach's mom...I got my daughters ship & division from her recruiter, they will usually have it within 72 hours of your recruits arrival at RTC. You can call him & ask & he should give it to you.
My daughter left on 10-6 from Shreveport, LA. Where are ya'll from?
Just a friendly note...you may want to change your name from your recruits name to something that can't be associated with him if the RDC's happen to look at the site. My son went through bc last year & said that his RDC would come in & give recruits IT (intensive training) when they link the posts to someone.
how do you know the ship&division? My son left for GL on 10-06-11
My son left on 10/4 and still form letter. Did get the box right away though. My other son is going in today, he does something at the recruiters office and he said he will as him about his PIR date and stuff...hopeing it is 12/2!!!!
Dawn from MI
Glad to see the divisional discussions started however, please remember that you are ALL part of this TG and to stay on the main pages to talk here too! Plus, we veteran moms mostly stay on the main pages of the groups. There are 7-8 PIR groups running at one time and so we do not get to the DF's as much. We do check them as often as we can...OPSEC rules apply there also.
Thank you!
The Discussion Forum area will only show twenty titles at a time. It is also set to show the "latest activity". So whatever has just had a reply added to it will "bump" up to the top. Whatever is at the bottom will disappear. So, if you want to see more click, "view all" at the bottom right hand corner of the discussion forum area. It is right up there above the Blue Comment Wall bar.
To "bump" up a discussion to the first spot of the DF area when you don't really want to add a reply...in other words someone is looking for it...just type whatever you want in the reply box and click "add reply". I just type one letter and add the reply. Then get rid of it by clicking the "x" in the top right hand corner. The discussion will stay up there at the top without your reply. It's because it has had "activity".
When you view a DF the first post ever made will be the first page. To get to the most current reply, click “Last Reply”.
