Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". My hubby and I are going away alone for the first time ever on a holiday as we are empty nesters now. Four of our adult kids live out of state, at least a million miles away (well, at least it seems like that many) Our oldest daughter is here, but she has to work all weekend anyway, so we aren't sticking around here. I'm sure there will be no tv in our room, so it will be nice and quiet, which is perfect for reading.

I could make a generic version for moms who run of stuff to send. I can change the colors of the card (to something more patriotic in red/white & blue) and take out the reference on the back to the San Francisco group and post the attachments in PDF format or JPG if some one wants to make changes - I did the card using MS Publisher. You could save it on your hard disc for uploading later on.

I created a card (using 8.5x11 card stock, printed on both sides). Found various articles of interest (sports, etc), cut and paste, printed them so they are black and white and inserted articles for each of the 9 recipients. Here is the outside:

This is the inside of the card. I wrote, "Soon it'll be Sailor xxx" just above the photo.

Her daughter said a few of the SR in her division were not getting mail, so a number of us in the San Francisco Bay Area group wrote personal notes (on a preprinted letter I created) to 9 SRs in Div 09 as part of our breakfast meeting. This was printed on 8.5x11.

If I was driving to see my sailor instead of flying for Thanksgiving, it would take me about 22 hours! Probably could have listened to both books in that amount of time! I prefer the audio over reading for the same reason you do...I actually listened to the "Marley" book while driving several years ago...of course, I got some strange stares from neighboring cars as the tears streamed down my face during the "sad" part!
