My Sailor will be home in less than 24 hours..

Sara, I am so sorry about your loss.  Even though your son did not get to see his grandfather one last time, I hope he finds comfort in knowing that from how on his grandfather will always keep watch over him in a special way.

They have a wonderful staff at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.  They are making sure that my son gets to the airport in plenty of time for his flight.  His emergency leave was granted and he will be home this afternoon.  The sad thing is that his grandfather passed away last night, and we had to tell him over the phone this morning, due to extended family members posting it on Facebook.  Thank you everyone for your prayers for our family.

Hello Group! Glad your Sailors are coming sorry to hear about your father (in-law?)...prayers for you and your family.

Well, my Christmas gift arrives this Friday around 3PM...yeppers, my sailor is coming home for 2 weeks!  How fantastic is that?!!  Things have been a bit wild since we got home from Chicago.  Still trying to put the finishing touches in the house for the holidays.  In-laws are coming this way. Never spent the holiday with them at our house before.  Always headed their way.  It'll be nice to just be able to stay at home.  Wishing each and everyone of you and yours a blessed holiday.  Take care.

Thank you Ana4jas - we got him approved and scheduled on a flight for tomorrow leaving San Antonio shortly after noon.

My son was scheduled to come home the 18th-1st.  We are trying to get him home early though now, his grandfather is not expected to make it.  They didn't think he would make it through the night, but he is still hanging in there.  I think that he is waiting for his two grandsons in the military to get home to see him one more time.  My son hasn't seen him since March.  This was the hardest thing I have done, having to call him last night and telling him what was going on, knowing that there was no one there to comfort him.  We hadn't told him how bad it had gotten, no sense in worrying them when they are far away and can't do anything about it.

I want to thank everyone for all the advice and comfort given since our Sailors began BC.  Could not have gotten through it without you all.  My Sailor is in San Antonio and gets to come home from the 21-30th.  This is the best gift ever!  Have a wonderful blessed Christmas!
