Hoping for a phone call today for my hubby (it's his birthday)...It would thrill him to hear from our SR today!

Maja, stay warm.  Yikes on the snow!

Good Morning, Sisters.  Hope all of you have a good day today.  Supposed to snow here today.  Maybe an inch or two which really isn't much but I must add I'm really not in the mood!  Pretty cold though...in the teens and low twenties.  Can you believe it...2 weeks from today is PIR!  WOOHOO!  My hubby and I are heading out on Wednesday.  Even if we run into crappy weather we still have a good chance making it to PIR.  Have been printing maps to places, you know like to the Cheesecake Factory and Jelly Belly Center!  Well, time to go get ready for work...ugh!  Jean's Day -- so it won't to be hard to pull myself together.  Love to you all.  Be safe.

Sigh....Dogs are just the best....I can't imagine life without them.  To me, all of God's lessons to us are wrapped up in fur!

Good morning, all.

I sure hope so! I really wanted to see him in his dress blues and also because my husband is also going to wear his dress blues.  He's a retired Navy Chief and I really wanted them both int their dress blues for a picture!   My son has probably only seen a real snow once or twice and even if he remembers it or not, I don't know because he was probably very very small the last time we took a trip up to Illinois in the winter to visit family.  We usually only go in the spring/summer time now.  It's snowed a handful of times down here in Houston over the years, but nothing compared to what they get up there!!  I grew up in Illinois so I know what it's like, but he has no clue!

Comment by diannep on November 17, 2011 at 9:36pm

ProudNavyMom:  One PIR group just found out that they WILL be in their dress blues...so maybe they have gotten the problem solved for all groups?  We can only hope!

Your son may be shoveling lots of snow!  My son did when he was at bc (arrived about this time 2 yrs ago).  That was a new experience for my S. FL boy!

Came home to a letter in my mailbox!!! My son is doing great. He says it seems like yesterday he was in P-days! I'm glad it is going well and seems to be going fast for him. He said he scored well enough on the weapons testing to earn a second ribbon! It was excited that it snowed there. We live in Texas so he has only seen snow a handful of times in his life whenever we would visit up north in the winter time which wasn't very often. Anyway, he says he is confident he will graduate on time (ha ha) says he's passing everything so no reason not too. He does say he has to go back to classifications next week although he doesn't now why yet. He also said they may not graduate in their dress blues. He ends the letter by saying only 3 more weeks and I'm out of here! LOL.

Pentwater, ((hugs)) sounds like a good letter.

mamawalrus is so right about making so many great friends and staying in touch.  My son graduated from BC almost a year ago and I still keep in frequent contact with about a dozen of our BC moms.  A couple of us have even seen each other since the PIR since our sons attended the same A school.   Your bond on here is very strong and the encouragement/hugs/smiles/tears, that you receive from each,  will keep you going even after this phase is finished.  You are only beginning your journey, so cherish this time and your new friends.  This is beginning of a wonderful new journey for you and your SR.

Good Morning to my Navy Family.. Yesterday was very hard but I am doing ok. I am just focussing on seeing my SR in 14 days.. I miss him so much.. Got a letter from him yesterday so after we buried Odie he brought up our spirits. He is doing good but very busy.. Said he could handle it that make me smile and I needed that.
