While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by diannep on November 17, 2011 at 9:39am: I was happy to see my son in the PIR DVD when he passed the review stand. Had not seen him during the entire ceremony! UGH! So was very thankful for the DVD. Just don't let the filming of your own dvd distract from enjoying the ceremony!

Comment by mamawalrus on November 17, 2011 at 2:04am: Thanks for the welcome.. you all are so close. I remember the excitement you are feeling. The M & G was great for us. We actually had it at Anastashia;s and they closed it for us, It was a bit small but it worked. LOL

In fact, many of us who met that night still keep in touch weekly after 9 months. You will soon find that some of those you meet will become close friends you can turn to that DO understand you tears, joys, fears and just that empty feeling. Not everyone in the civilian understands that. I know the anxiousness is setting in, but please take this time you have with your wonderful friends here and enjoy it. You will look back and miss this closeness you are experiencing at this moment. Wishing you all the very best and PIR is the best!!! Do your own recording of ceremony if you can, the DVD they sell is not the entire ceremony, only parts. They do sell hot chocolate, coffee and cute little sailor hats down on the floor before PIR begins. Lots of hugs to you all and Hooyah.

I was a vet tech eons ago...always a hard thing...most of the time just didn't say anything...hugged quite a few crying clients...that was all they needed at the time. I echo what dianne says and that the timing and words will be Given to you.

DarkRider - I saw you post early but was not able to read it but I just read it and it is great. I can see Odie up there running all around but the first thing he did was eat.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
