Pentwater: Hmmmm....not sure on that. Yours is at A School now, right? Is your sailor looking to book home for holiday travel? Not sure the military rates are so good...haven't found that to be the case. Since holiday travel is on "their dime," you may want to check discount sites for flights. I would think your sailor could find someone to ask on the base as others may be in the same position.
ad8945: Here is the number for Photographic Services for the photos:
847-578-6205
Does anyone have the # for the NEX where we could pick up the pictures? I had a few questions to ask them
FireTeamLeaderWife or diannep - Where do they go on base to get plane tickets through the military?
Peggy, please do share the scarf site on the PIR groups! Here are the current ones:
12/16, 12/29, 1/06, 1/13, 1/20, 1/27
Might be too late for the 12/16 one, but the others may be interested. You may want to post a pik of you ladies in them, like the one on here. They looked great!
Restaurant Review - Joe's Seafood. Corner of Rush and Grand. Near the Navy Pier in Chicago. Absolutely fabulous food! Reasonably priced and a very good and friendly staff. I had a steak sandwich and I never eat steak. This was the most tender, perfectly seasoned piece of steak I have ever eaten. Cooked perfectly. Desserts were unbelievably good. If you get a chance, you got to go. Definitely worth the trip!
Well, we made it home. Saying "good bye" to my sailor last night just broke my heart. As if saying good bye when she left for BC wasn't bad enough....this time stung even more. Graduation was so cool. Everything I imagined and more. I felt so special as I strolled by the bleachers to the Div 016 area. Looking into the crowd and seeing all the Navy scarves and so very proud to be one of the "select" Mom's sporting one! My sailor even said that the scarf was how she spotted me in the crowd! It was so great meeting those of you that I did at the Ramada M & G. I feel honored and privileged to know so such wonderful women. Hoo yah!! My sailor is staying in Great Lakes for "A" school. She is an "ET" and was advanced to E-3 before graduation. So, cool to see the "3 bars" on the collar of her "peanut butter" uniform. Very, very proud of my sailor! No word as to whether or not she will have leave around Christmas. Just keep our fingers crossed on that one.
What a wonderful weekend, so proud to be a American! Great Lakes is one of the most amazing places, so rich in history and tradition. Having to drop off our Sailor at his A school there in the evening, we had a chance to see what a beautiful "home" he will have for the next couple of months. Truly something every American should see, but sadly never will due to security concerns......Anyway, enjoyed meeting my NFM's family and can't wait to see my Sailor in just a few weeks for the holidays!
Does anyone on here have a sailor that went to A school in San Antonio, that is from Tennessee and a first initial of T? He is rooming with my son from Colorado.
