Very tired...very emotional weekend!
Dawn in MI
Beautiful prayer, wvnavymom. So glad that your PIR experience was all and more than you hoped for! It is amazing how bootcamp pulls out the best in them, isn't it? Now....blessings to each of them as they continue their Navy journey...but keep in contact with loved ones now! HOOYAH!
PIR was absolutely amazing. The weather was nice, I met several of the ladies here, my family was all there, and best of all I got to see my sailor girl. After putting her performance gear away, she waved for us to come down to the floor to meet her. When we got there, she was standing all by herself crying. She was so happy to see her family. Six months ago she would have cared less that we had traveled hundreds of miles just to see her. But bc not only turned her into a US Navy Sailor, but a mature, young woman. She's not the defiant, rebellous teenager she used to be. Thank you Navy for all you have done and will continue to do with my sailor. Thanks to N4M (and the ladies who oversaw this specific page) for creating this site so I could at least try to keep my sanity as we traveled through this part of her career. Thanks to all of you for tolerating my whinning and crying, rejoicing and praising. I simply cannot imagine going through this without you!!!! And finally, I thank God for allowing our paths to cross.
I pray for His continued watchcare over each of you and your Sailors. May He always hold their ship/sub in the palm of His hand, aid our sailors as they accomplish their mission, and see each sailor safely ashore at the end of the voyage. And while they're away, may He grant each of us peace in knowing that He is in control, and strength and patience until we can hold our sailor in our arms again. ~Amen
I love that our group is called Alumni! I had a great time at PIR. It was just awesome. The folks at the Springhill Suites were fabulous but best of all was seeing my brand, spanking, squared away, SAILOR! Wish we could have spent more time with him. He left for the airport at 1AM to catch a 9AM flight to Charleston, SC. Best of luck to all the new Sailors of TG3 and thank you N4M for all the support along the way. The ride is just beginning! Hoo-ah!
Good Morning to my Navy Family.. All I can say is this weekend has been a rollercoaster of emotions... First I cried happy and proud tears and then I cried sad tears when I had to say goodbye to my Sailor again.. Missing he all over again. His dad and I are going to clean his room just incase he gets to come home for Christmas.. He called yesterday from Groton, CT after he got all signed in and told us that he really things he will be home for Christmas... My Sailor said that he likes it there at Groton so far... Said that the NEX is like a super Walmart. He said the base is old but it is really nice. We have his picture hanging up already in the living room so that everytime I feel sad I just look up at him and the PRIDE I have in him taked over again and the sadness goes away.. I can't put into words just how PROUD of him I am and that goes for all the Sailor I could not have made that comment when I was 18 or 19 years old... We have some very strong and smart young adults.
WOW!!! Is all I can say!!! PIR yesterday was AMAZING!! I am soooo proud of my Sailor son!!!! Words cannot express the emotions that I have felt over the past 2 days! I cried during the PIR ceremony! I rushed down to the drill hall floor as soon as they called Liberty and hugged my sailor so tight!
This weekend was very exhausting. We left Houston, Texas at 6 am Thursday (got up at 3 am), arrived in Peoria at 11:45, picked up my mom and drove to Great Lakes. We checked into our room at the Navy Lodge, went to Sarge's Meet and Greet and then back to the hotel to get some sleep. Got up at about 3;30 am Friday to get ready and head to PIR so we could get in line and get in and get our seats. After PIR, we got to spend all day with our Sailor. Got up at 5:30 am this morning and went to be with him at Midway until he left for A school. Then we drove back to Peoria. Had dinner with my sister tonight and staying with my mom and will be flying back to Houston tomorrow at noon. WHEW!!!
But like I said at first, this has been an awesome weekend and I wouldn't have missed it for the world!!!!
For your viewing pleasure...LaLa once said I was like an elf leaving presents! So, a vid from one of my fave Christmas movies!
Good Morning!
I can't put into word just how PROUD of my son I am.. He has changed alot and then hasn't changed at all.. I had tears of joy from seeing him and tears of sadness when he dropped him off back at the base.. Now I am missing him all over again but I am hoping and praying he gets to come home sometime around Christmas...
