N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hi everyone, Good Morning!
So today makes it exactly 30 days before my son's PIR! I can't wait to see him, counting the days down! We got his one and only letter last week, needless to say, we were jumping for joy and it was the highlight of our day, pure excitement! I've been struggling with my son being away, he's the eldest of 2, but his letters ( he had several in one envelope) just gave us a lot of comfort, his little brother and I, have been missing him tremendously!
I've been a typical mom, I've had my moments, my last one was pretty bad and I literally cried myself to sleep (that was before my one letter), I had also missed that one phone call home and it just devastated me! Since receiving his letter, I have a more clear understanding of how he is doing and what kind of spirit he's in- He's super busy and part of a 900 division and only has 4 weeks to learn his training, the other 4 weeks are for performance practices- he might even get to perform at his own graduation (I would so love that!) He was happy though to receive mail from us so even though they can't write as often, they do love to read and see all your letters and pictures! I'm so glad to have found this site as it has helped me with a lot of questions, I did have a few questions still, unsure about a few things... For example, I'm curious if everyone has received the box with the child's belongings? I've received only his form for graduation/thanksgiving adoption/one letter home, just curious.. Shouldn't his belongings have arrived back to me? Also, as far as graduation, I know there are only 4 official guests per recruit- we have a few more family members that would like to come see him at PIR, what is the limit to members that can view the graduation in the chapel? Does anyone know, how big is the chapel, is it standing room/sitting room? Is there a procedure for those guests when entering the Naval Base, do they get to come in with us and then go tinted chapel! How far is the chapel from the ceremony hall? I'm so sorry for all these questions, I figured if anyone can me, you guys can! I've asked my recruit via letters but still waiting on a response and who knows how long that might be... Looking forward to meeting some NAVY families at the meet and greet and the graduation... Thanking you all in advance!

You will like Holiday Inn Express.  CatMom stayed there and said it was very nice.

Hubby booked us at Holiday inn express, a lot of the other hotels he looked into in the area had really bad reviews. But I'm not going to be too picky at this point. When it rains it pours around here, I was laid off today. So I'm trying to come to terms with that and I'm missing my daughter today more then ever.

Basha:  They can have no care pkgs in Bootcamp so really all you should be sending is letters.  Some send cards too....but other than that, please do not send anything else.

TXSnowWhite:  Keep calling Navy Lodge back....they get cancellations.  In the meantime. you can book at Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express or Residence Inn....all good hotels....call direct and ask what their Navy Graduation rate is.   If you really want Navy Lodge and they have a cancellation, then you can book there and cancel at the other hotel.  Usually no penalty if you cancel either 24 hrs before arrival or day of.

Welcome, Basha!  Glad you found the gorup.

Here is a link to explain the Recruit leadership positions.  My son happened to be a YN in the Navy as his job and enjoyed it, but here is what the YN does while at Bootcamp:
