N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Looks like this is probably my new group, just got a letter today that my recruit didn't pass her "float" test and was bumped back, she said December 5th in her letter but I think she meant to say the 4th.

mazur:  Sarge is great but renting a car is the most economical usually.  Best to just use a search engine to check out the different rates available.  Also, those flying Southwest will have a discount rental car code included with their reservation.

cmieslie: There will be signs with Division numbers on them in front of each section in the PIR Hall, next to the Honor Guard for each division.

As far as those moving over to A School in GL, it takes a few hours so expect to pick up your new sailor probably anywhere from 2-4 pm.  They can use their phone cards to contact you, or possibly borrow a cellphone from an existing A School sailor.

Got another letter today!! So looking forward to the next call! trying figure out the best and cheapest car rental that will meet us at Midway, any suggestions? And even if we rent a car, would it be easier to get Sarge to take us to the PIR?

diannep thanks for the info - two additional questions...is there a way to know where each division will be sitting when guests arrive?   For those staying on in GL who have to check out of RTC and check in at their new location, I understand it may take anywhere from an hour or two to several.   Do they have a way of contacting us when they are done?     THANKS!

Good Morning!

Another comment....we have not heard of a sailor being lost after Liberty Call YET!  So it may take a couple of minutes, but all are found after that Liberty Call!  Just remember that you will only have about 10 mins in the PIR Hall before they will announce to clear the hall....so get your hugs and piks quickly, since neither of those two things are allowed outside of PIR Hall!  :-)  No Public Display of Affection and no piks allowed outside of PIR Hall...no holding hands, arms around each other, etc.  Be sure you are familiar with the rules of PDA (your sailor will be).

Comment by diannep on October 29, 2015 at 8:14am

One suggestion on seeing your sailor right after Liberty call is to have him/her go to the wall right behind their division position....and make your way back to that.  The "crowd" will be between the bleachers and the front part of the division but it does become mass confusion pretty quickly!

NaniNavyMom:  You cannot post the SR's name here, but you can use initials and hometown to see if a family member is on here.  If so, that person can friend request you and you can talk more specifically by private message on here.  Great that you are hopeful to adopt an extra SR along with yours!

On the different WiFi notations, strange if you are able to get WiFi where you are for everything else.  Can you try from a computer in another location, like at work?

I pray I see my son for TG and that I am able to adopt someone's child. Are we allowed to say the name of our adopted Sailor when and if we do get that info? Also is anyone having trouble reserving for the meet and greet. It keeps saying no wifi and I clearly have wifi. I've tried different tablets and phones and nothing Can someone please help me?

KaelaW,

I would suggest having your SR boyfriend stay put in the general area of his division since we all know that WE have our eyes on our beloved Sailors, but they don't really know where we are seated in the stands.  Then you can just make a beeline toward him~~
