OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thanks for the information diannep.  I'm very new to this all.  I keep reading about Sarge's Meet and Greet, what is this?

Jennifer:  It may differ with different rental car companies, so you may need to google it or calls various companies and ask.  Someone told me a good while back that there are some willing to rent at a younger age than others.

For those interested in the Adopt a Sailor program for your SR, scroll down on the link below to the info....

@diannep Do you happen to know what age you have to be to rent a car?

Patty: Navy Lodge is very affordable, close to RTC, great staff, simple but clean accommodations.  You book in your SR's name if you do not have military ID.  If they are full, keep calling back, but you may want to book somewhere else as backup.  Other recommended hotels from those on here are:  Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express......close to Sarge's MeetandGreet, 4-5 miles from RTC.  Call direct and ask for the Navy Graduation rate.

It is more economical to rent a car if you can.  There are deals out there!  Especially if you fly Southwest....they give you a rental car discount code.  If you really don't want to drive, then you can contact Sarge for transporation, but it can get a bit pricey even though he discounts for Navy families!  Still best to rent a car.

The letters both going out and receiving seem to take about 6 working days.  I'm not sure why it would take that long.

I am trying to book a room for PIR and wondering where is the best place to stay?  I'm landing in Chicago the day before graduation, what kind of transportation is available from Chicago to PIR?
