N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I received a call from my son today. Gosh it was so good to hear his voice. He was in really good spirits and tells us he is doing really good. I had to share the conversation with the family but i am so grateful to have heard his voice and know he is ok.

Teddiboo:  That's great!  Now pray that your SR has no setbacks in his PIR date....like my son did....so I had to pay the $150 x 2 change fee!  UGH!  Sure wish I had known about Southwest Airlines then....that no change fee clause would have come in handy!

Glad you found such a great deal though!

Good afternoon everyone! Just booked the flight and Hotel room. Got the plane tickets for $87 through Spirit airlines . We are from west Texas so we will have to make a drive to Dallas Texas . Also got our car rental through them for a great price ! Hope everyone is doing good and hope you all have heard from your SR , I'm still waiting on the personal letter and phone call. Blessings :)

Huntersmom:  The challenge coins are purchased at:

www.pirgifts.com

Get your SR's ship name at Bootcamp.  Just a nice gesture and memory for your new sailor's time at Bootcamp.  The baskets for auction, centerpieces, etc are for Sarge's MeetandGreet.  Purely voluntary for everyone...as he puts this on for all family members/friends of the graduating sailors....it is a way for him to make some money to help reimburse him each week for the money he and his wife put out to supply your dinner (all free to you, of course).  Please do not feel like you have to participate in this.  If you would like to donate cash, he will have a box there.  If you would like to just attend and enjoy, that is fine too!

mazur:  If you are sure you don't want to rent a car (usually the most economical thing you can do....they have some good rates)...you can contact Sarge 847 212 0246.  He has a shuttle rate to/from the airports.  Most of the hotels do not have their own shuttles but there are area shuttles.   But consider the car rental.

Hi cocomami i hope you are also able to get a great deal. The airline i booked is called frontier. They do charge baggage fee but for $98 roundtrip non stop i couldnt let that pass and i can save the money for that from here to there. Check and see if they travel from GA. I am ariving at OHare airport as from the information i have read here its the closest to the Great Lakes. Good luck!!

We received our form letter on Monday Oct.19 then got a personal letter on Thursday, Oct.22. Does anyone know if any of the airlines provide shuttle service to the hotels near the naval base?

This is my first rodeo being a Navy mom. I want to know more about challenge coins, and the types of things that are being done to welcome my SR for PIR. I read a little about door decor, ribbons, table centerpieces. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks
