N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I received my daughters form letter yesterday too. So happy to hear from her even if it was a form letter. Can't wait till December to see the changes!

Cameronsmom:  I agree with Justine.  Here is the link for more info about the MeetandGreet:

http://www.mynavytaxi.com/events.html

Sarge is a wealth of info too.  He has been in the area over 30 years and is retired military himself.  I believe the hours are 5:30 to 9?  Should be on the site.  Dinner is served.

Hoping that those waiting on form letters get them today!

Good Morning!

Well, hotel is booked. We decided not to fly because $900 for a refundable ticket each for four is kinda out of our price range. We are driving. Waiting for a form letter for Thanksgiving holiday. Counting the weeks till I see my SR. Today was a good day no tears =:)

Cameronsmom, I highly recommend Sarges Meet and Greet!! It was fun and informative. You need to reserve your spot, just find Sarge on Facebook and send him a friend request. When our PIR gets closer you'll see posts about it. It's free, he takes donations though. As we move along on our journey we meet other moms in each division and you kinda group yourselves together at Sarges. It's fun and you get to hug everyone you've been chatting with!!

Week one of BC is done and week 2 underway. From a Military ,com site regarding BC-they should be working on confidence building and teamwork this week.

Missing my son like crazy.

Can anyone give any info about the Serge Meet and Greet the Thursday before PIR? What is it, where, what can we expect? What time is it? Is it required? I am trying to determine when we should fly in. I have sen a few comments here and there, but no info that I could see that gives full details. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Am beyond happy! I got the form letter today. So wonderful to see his handwriting. It's been 11 days! I'll continue to be strong for my son. Can hardly wait for PIR 12-04-15!

So happy! Finally received the form letter today. He is graduating on Dec. 4th. Even though it wasn't really a personal letter, it did have a few areas that he had to write things. Even those few words in his handwriting made me happy! I guess the next step will be to start planning travel. Still looking forward to the phone call!!

Travelgirl:  This was on the way to Bootcamp, right?  Because maybe it has to do with "orders" and since he was on his way to Bootcamp, not a sailor yet, maybe that had something to do with it.  I had no problem getting a gate pass when my new sailor was home for Leave the first time, and now was heading to his duty station.  He was in uniform though...and that may have to something to do with it also.  I agree with ellen....there will be no problem in Chicago.

Comment by ellen0502 on October 19, 2015 at 11:40am

It is the airlines that give the gate passes, and yes it is up to the airlines as to whether they will allow it. Was your son with you when you asked for the gate pass? If not that could be the reason why they wouldn't issue one.

Chicago airport airlines generally have no problem issuing a gate pass, but again your Sailor will have to be with you, that would be the case for any airport. Just meet your Sailor there and ask at the ticket counter.
