For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by ellen0502 on October 16, 2015 at 11:04pm: d72delta, The Navy (actually all gov't agencies) runs on a fiscal year instead of a calendar year, their "year" begins October 1. So this TG is the fourth group in the Navys fiscal year, TG 01 was the first.

Comment by diannep on October 16, 2015 at 8:46am: Navy Lodge is very reasonable, tammy. Close to RTC...book in your SR's name if you do not have military ID yourself. If they are full, keep calling back. They get cancellations.

For other hotels, we suggest you check them out on www.tripadvisor.com before booking. Most of the reviews on there are from Navy families.

The following hotels are nice and closet to Sarge's MeetandGreet....4-5 miles from RTC:

Courtyard, Springhill Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn....call direct for the Navy Graduation date, but check the price online too since someone on this site just told me that she found the online price cheaper than the Navy Grad rate she got when she called.

Comment by Cameronsmom on October 15, 2015 at 10:52pm: The brochure with the form letter has several suggestions. You can also try Travelocity--I have always had good luck there. I sometimes use it to get hotel names, then check on line or call the hotel directly. Sometimes you can get a better deal than Travelocity that way. Just don't call the # on the site for that--it goes to Travelocity...get it from the hotel web site (independent lookup). If you have AAA or AARP, or your company has a corporate rate plan---that can save you $$ too.

You can call me FTLW, it's easier :-)

My Sailor PIR’d in 05/2011. He is a Seabee Reservist. I am an AF (Security Forces) Reservist wife (29 years - now retired). I know …not Navy…but I am familiar with military life! We have been through two Deployments. Our son enlisted while Hubby was on his 2nd Deployment.. This site was a Godsend and helped me get through not only our sons BC experience but my husbands Deployment.
